san.W10
Are you serious? SA? I still am stuck on that flippin mission where I have to go to that warehouse and then chase down the cop with my brother on the ladder of the fire engine. I always get to the point the gangs start shooting my car and then it blows up. Definitely NOT satisfying. :( if you're using cheats, then the car WILL blow up :p & if the AI fire truck/cars are getting away faster than you, then lower your gfx. settings :D
Aero_Rising
Oh no here it comes the publisher didn't get the money they wanted from dlc because the developer made the original game have too much content that was so good that people didn't care for dlc. I hope this doesn't mean that publishers are gonna say make the original less full so we can get dlc when a publisher starts trying to change the course of the development of the game bad things tend to happen :p
Tech Star
if you're using cheats, then the car WILL blow up :p& if the AI fire truck/cars are getting away faster than you, then lower your gfx. settings :D Yeah I use weapon cheats and armor and health cheat. So my car won't blow up if I stop using them on that mission?

san.W10
Yeah I use weapon cheats and armor and health cheat. So my car won't blow up if I stop using them on that mission? yeah, you can disable the cheats after you come out of the "crack palace", when CJ gets into the car. coz, thereafter there's no need to use cheats :D tho my suggestion would be - dont use cheats for atleast the very LAST mission of the game :p
Treemonkeys
Shouldn't have made it exclusive DLC, duh. There are a lot of gamers who are loyal to Sony and GTA going back to the PS2 days. If you are going to go exclusive at least go all or nothing this varying levels of exclusivity with DLC and hurts customers who don't do the research into what they are buying (which is most of them). Sethos
Grand Theft Auto IV was by far my favourite game in the entire GTA series. Don't get me wrong, I loved the previous GTA games and I spent hours and hours with them but as I grew up, all those cheap-thrills aspects of the games also lost their touch. By that I mean the tanks and all that shabang. So the game finally turned into a more mature game that lets you immerse yourself a lot more and still remains fun by letting you mess up a much more realistic environment. The story was also a massive step up, I really wanted to push forward and see what happened to Niko unlike the other games where you only pushed forward to see what bone-breaking stunt or far out retarded event you would be part of next which is a bit cheap. However, despite being a massive fan I haven't even touched the DLC - I want to carry on the story of the character I've played through the game, I don't want to get dropped into the exact same city and then following some mini-story of another character - That doesn't intrigue me that much, especially not this long after release. So the DLC had to be a continuation of Niko's story for them to stick with the same City, else it doesn't cut the mustard with me. Although Neowin is the only place I frequently visit where there's a hatred towards the game, though I've come to realise people here are deadly afraid of realism combined with a sort of maturity which is kinda apparent as most threads or topics regarding those games are either kept alive by the same 2-3 members or they just die out - Yet the arcade mainstream games are covered in drool. Massiveterra
I really don't see the logic in the exclusive platform being the major reason the expansions didn't sell. As of last year, GTA 4 sold over 13 million copies. That means about 7 or 8 million people bought it for the xbox 360. 7 or 8 MILLION. That alone right there is enough to ensure at least something. I blame the lack on sales to a few things: 1. Not as many people care about the GTA franchise as they used to 2. A large number of GTA 4 games got traded in or sold 3. XBox's lack of Hard Drive standard (No HDD vs 20G vs 60G vs 120G) 4. $20 per expansion is way more than people expect to pay for DLC on a console
Digital Tonic
What were they honestly expecting? I know tons of people that don't really care about episodic content no matter what the game. Although I did just purchase them both off Zavvi :p
backdrifter
I enjoyed the game a lot, but from the eyes of Niko, didn't quite get what I was supposed to do with hundreds of thousands of dollars I tried so hard to earn. Seriously, what do you do with all that money? Buy a $1000 suit?

Seriously, what do you do with all that money? Buy a $1000 suit? Yeah that did annoy me however, he always sounded like he was trying to make ends meat yet had millions of dollars and you could never really do anything with them. They should have tweaked the amount of money received per mission and then open a few more options like buying cars that aren't on the roads, real estate etc.
backdrifter
Exactly, the story lost me after the bank robbery because it was quite unrealistic do dirty jobs for people you hated for $7-8k while you had half a million in your pocket. I wish I could buy businesses like in Vice City, that was very fun and gave me a choice on what to do.
Eddo89
People say if it not were exclusive is going to be better. Yea, slightly less than double maybe. The ratio of game sold versus DLC is still going to be low as well. Can't imagine PS3 owners who don't want to shell out for online is going to shell out for a DLC that is reasonably expensive. But even if is expensive, it could have sold more (thinking about it, this DLC essentially grosses 2m (100,000sales?), and if I recall correctly, MS splashed out in the region of 10m (or there abouts, definitely in the millions) to have the DLC as an exclusive. Can't really say is money well spent (though they probably got more sales originally because of the plan). Though the reason why people don't pay for it is because it is simply not what GTA is about. GTA is not about the story, new weapons are gimmick at best, a couple new cars is nothing more than the cream. The cake is the environment. New content brings none of it. Niko = emo tard :p anyways, GTA4 is just like GTA3, a completely new approach, so we may see VC & SA like GTA in future, more fun, more immersive. ------------ edit do you guys like killing in GTA4? because of the euphoria ragdoll physics, & realistic looking peds, i dont kill any peds at all :p i just kill the enemy AI's :D Edited December 30, 2009 by san.W10
akav0id
I would get it if it was not exclusive! Yeah, like I would have bought vice city stories and liberty city stories if those weren't Sony exclusives. Those never made the Xbox, so why should the GTA4 exclusive content make the PS3?

Lawl, The San Andreas story was all over the place and it started out with a bunch of gang banging, it was a complete load of crap. At least Niko was badass, an ex-soldier with a lot of baggage and a hefty skill-set.

REM2000
i did enjoy GTA4 i thought it was an excellent game with some great moments and played all the way through it. However i thought that 1600 points for DLC was far too expensive. I have all of the DLC for Fallout3 and at 800 i thought it wasn't that bad of a cost, i would have expected the GTA DLC to be about the same, not double. As pointed out it doesn't offer anything new apart from extra missions, the same as DLC for other games at 800 points. I would understand the price if it made the map larger and took you to another area.
DJGM
. . . a lot of people who just downloaded GTA4 arent going to pay for DLC . . . Because a lot of those that did download GTA4, would've ended up having their illegally modded consoles permanently banned from XBox LIVE ... so they were in no position to pay for the exclusive DLC anyway! Sethos
SR2 > GTA4 Yeah, if you like technically inferior arcade crap with crappy handling on everything and the worst gunplay to ever have stalked a next-gen game - By those criteria it's excellent.
