Razorwing
my gf already was a gamer when I met her. She loves Guitar Hero/Rockband, some FPSs and some random stuff (Resident Evil, SSBM etc.
cork1958
This is gunna sound lame but I was playing some MW2 on live with some friends and thought how cool it would be if I could team up with my wife and play this lol kinda like a metaphor for our marriage- us against the world! But I understand she can't just pickup a controller and start getting headshots I know it'll be a little bit of a learning process. My wife is 21 and hasn't played a game since super Mario 3 on the nes I don't think she really gets the concept of a thumb stick let alone 2 lol yeah this is what I'm working with, I'm hoping for some suggestions what games to start with should I start with simple games on the ps3 and 360 or start on an entirely different console with different controllers? Start with the snes and work our way up? I have a dream... And that dream is to decapitate some locust in gears of war along side my wife! :) Yep, You're right!! "This is gunna sound lame" Good luck!!

Sikh
I am glad to say my GF was a gamer before I met her. Growing up with brothers helped a little but she always loved games. I got her a 360 last year for christmas and since then shes gotten into more gaming. Im very glad to say I have a Gamer GF. Its like a perfect match for us gamers because then it doesnt feel like we are neglecting / taking time away from them. /offtopic But its been "proven" women are better at multitasking then us, now please explain why women(not talking about ALL the women out there, but most) cant handle gaming? If you women can do all this other crazy **** at the same time how can you NOT move 2 thumbs at the same time lol. I know a few friends who were like "how cna you do it its so hard" but at the same time, one of them drives a stick, texts, does makeup, eats, and other things all at the same time. Really? Seriously? but you cant play a game. god I dont understand people sometimes especially women. So to this thought, you women ARE NOT better multitaskers then us guys. My fiancee can play an affliction warlock with ease. :p I find that women can typically get into The Sims, WoW, Tetris and various other puzzle games, Super Smash Bros., Mario games, and a few of them with Pok?mon. So long as it's fun and entertaining at the very least. Aside from the above though, I managed to get my girlfriend into Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, which was awesome since she used to hate me being on that game. Don't play it anymore at least, but it was fun when we did. Best of luck in your attempts to pull your girlfriend into gaming though. :)
AbandonedTrolley
Good luck with this. (Y) As mentioned, find something that will appeal. WoW is certainly one of those, Hunter/Lock due to the 'pet' nature of them, they seem to like that.... at least my ex did. On consoles as mentioned, Little Big Planet, Flower, Singstar/Lips etc etc the more creative games rather than the kill/race type. If all else fails get her playing Fat Princess and feed her cake! iconboy
Wow thanks for all the GREAT suggestions guys! ;) I was really surprised by how many people suggested WoW because to me this game is a very approachable broad appealing MMO but the fact that it's an MMO does not lend itself well to a base understanding of games. Think about it my wife is gunna jump from super Mario bros on the nes to WOW. Really? Lol n e ways I've got LBP for the ps3 and Lego batman for the 360 and well try those tonight and let you know how it goes :)

Phantom Spaceman
We got ourselves a PS3 console in Nov. for an early xmas gift. My wife, whom hasn't played a console since atari, was way more interested in the Blu-Ray aspect of the PS3. Well last night I called from work to see what she was doing, she said the kids were in bed and she was in the middle of playing some games in Madden.... Lol sometimes gaming just happens.... madd-hatter
Very familiar. I'm 22, my GF is 22, I started to try and get her into gaming at 20 and now she wont put down FF7 on PSP. She played Mario and Yoshi's Island when she was younger. Games I introduced to her in order: Ocarina of Time (She beat it, loves it) Twilight Princess (Beat it, Midna is her fav fictional character) LittleBigPlanet (Loved it, thought it was ultra cute, got every frickin bubble) Shadow of the Colossus (Loved it but got stuck, going to start over) FF9 (Beat it) Diablo II (loved it, lvl 90 cold sorc) FF8 (Didn't like it, 1/2 disc 1) God of War 1 for PS2 (Got stuck but liked it, stopped, recently bought GoW collection to try again.) FF7 (She's on disc 3, loves it) She's going back at SotC and GoW next. I also got her Little Ninja's for xmas. She can't wait for Diablo III. She even tried some NFL2k5, and Halo 2&3's campaign. I believe Zelda is the key. You can't bring people who don't play games into a FPS to start. They will hate it and you. But I can't stress it enough, Ocarina of Time isn't regarded as the best game ever (by many) for no reason. Everyone can play and enjoy it. DirtyLarry Veteran Posted December 29, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 29, 2009 As others have already mentioned, the only games I have successfully been able to get her into are exactly as follows... Little Big Planet New Super Mario Brothers Wi Sports and Wii Sports Resorts She watches me play all other games, and has never shown an interest even wanted to play anything except the above. On her own she was into The Sims 2 for a good time, but she barely ever played it, she just decorated the hell out of her house.
mateo lapiz
My sister's boyfriend is a huge gamer, and he's turned her into a slight gamer. I think he started by getting her a DS or something...she likes Little Big Planet and Left 4 Dead (1 and 2) now though. Little Big Planet seems to be a popular game amongst the females I guess :p
Aero_Rising
A lot of girls have more goal oriented minds and therefore do better with rpg style games. Most girls I know who play games are playing some rpg either online or a big single player one like diablo. I don't think you're gonna have a good chance of getting her to play fps. WastedJoker
My girlfriend is embarrassing. She only likes really lame games like Guitar Hero/Rock Band or Sing Star. I'd rather chew my own leg off and stab my eyes out with the broken gnawed thigh bone than play those awful games.
Brad.
My girlfriend loved Tomb Raider before I met her, she wanted to try Call of Duty, so I let her play CoD4, WaW and MW2... Her favourite is WaW -_- She also plays LBP with me on my PS3 :p oh, and Rock Band/Guitar Hero. With that said, she loves her Wii, always playing Mario cart, Super Smash Bros. etc. She's just slowly got into FPS and "Next Gen" games thanks to me :p
Krockett
I think the big issue your having is that you want her to play the games that you like, which is cool but I have to say keep dreaming. I've been trying to get my wife to play games like that for some time now...what Ive found is to find games that spark her intrest and yours as well, she never played video games before but now she plays rock band, pyschonauts, Need for Speed, and New super Mario(ds) VS mode...lol and I have to admit I have more fun playing NSMB(DS) with my wife then I ever had playing most FPS's...we have a blast. That doesn't mean you have to give up those games but I've found that when you have a general Intrest to just play a game with your wife and spending time with her you'll have fun regardless of what kind of game your playing. Anyways now She has an intest in gaming and we are excited about buying New Super Mario Bros (wii) havent picked up yet because we just found out we have a baby on the way and the baby takes priority, and yeah anyways I cant wait for the baby to get old enough were all three of us can game together. FYI: she does kick my ass on mario from time to time (shes getting Good)

Krockett
Gaming is man time - MAAAAANNN TTIIIIIIIIIIMMMEE!!!!Dont do it, you're wrecking the whole thing for every bloke on the planet! I lol'd when I read that...I used to think it was too, the same with Golf...now my wife does both things with me. which is incredibly awesome because My wife has a general interest in the things I do. We compromise and watch things in the cinema that the other wants to see, so we have a pretty awesome relationship. Which leads me to believe that we will be together for a long time :D. Don't think its one sided though because from time to time I cross stitch with her...lol (So yeah who do I turn my man card in to)...lol Sorry if this seemed like a brag session but my wife is pretty cool and she really try's to be apart of what Im doing but shes cool enough to understand I need space sometimes....most women can't find that balance "Sorry if this was a lil off topic" Edited December 30, 2009 by Krockett
