Skulltrail
I'd like to watch some of the videos I have downloaded onto my computer on my Xbox 360. How would I go about transferring the movie files from my computer to the Xbox 360? What format does it have to be in?
twist
easiest way is update your xbox, then throw the videos on a usb stick, or a usb HD. just make sure it's formated to fat32. here's a list of formats. http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=558753

Sethos
Stream them to your XBOX with Tversity. Don't use that crap software, PS3 Media Server is 100 x better ( Yes, it works for the 360 despite the name ).

LiquidSolstice
I think the issue here is codec support. the 360 can't play all types of video files, just a limited range.

Sethos
My head hurts, did we just have a sudden wave of people who have no previous knowledge of media streaming around here or what? In case the guy decides to opt for media streaming, don't use WMP or TVersity, especially not TVersity as that has got to be the worst piece of crap I've ever used. PS3 Media Server encodes on the fly in case there's a format the console don't support natively and it does it with some excellent codecs / engines meaning there is minimal quality loss. TVersity transcodes, meaning it removes detail from the video and most video that isn't supported by the console just looks like crap. Not to mention the software is sluggish and requires you to turn of UAC to install. Audioboxer wrote an excellent guide for this software, just skip the part about Playstation 3 configuration - Just set up the software and launch your 360 and browse your HDD. https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=614188

Indeed PS3MS has long been the best streaming solution for consoles. Nothing else to say :)

SMELTN
I just use Vuze to share with the xbox I also use Vuse. It converts them on the go, all you have to do is drag and drop the movie into the folder. I used to use Play On for watching stuff like Hulu, etc, but it costs money and I don't want to pay for it and I haven't found a free alternative yet.
