Leaked Footage of Half-Life 2 Played on Project Natal

Recommended Posts

Someone secretly leaked out a clip of Microsoft’s upcoming system ‘Project Natal’ playing ‘Half-Life 2′. This is most likely early footage of the beta testing for a FPS game on the Natal and of course, there is no confirmed source where the video came from so take it as you like (most likely will get you fired if you come out).

While the video is kind of blurry for the screen you can tell that the guy can move the characters just by the wave of his hands and pick up objects as you would mime it out. I can definitely see the potential the ‘Natal’ has. However, it will be a long while till this system is released to the public.

Check out the video after the jump.

Don't know if it's real or not, but looks like its gonna be painfully slow playing HL2 and having to move your hands like that and reacting to enemies. :/

Its good for a fps that you sneak around and shoot one person at a time but forget playing a game like serious sam /.

People that You looked crazy playing the wii imagine playing serious sam with that and 30 enemies coming at you .

They need a wiimote nunchuck like adapter with just a joystick on it to do movement.

I love the video! It has all the characteristics of great rumor/leaked information:

1. Blurry Video...check

2. Testing with the lights off so you can't see any of the equipment clearly...check

3. No sound to verify anything...check

Looks like they hit up the list of cliche leaked footage videos and tried to fit in as many as possible.

Fake I think.

Natal will really flop at trying to be shoehorned onto games that work perfectly well with a controller, where it has to be impressive is with new ideas, or taking ideas that can mix and work well with a controller.

Probably end up being a string of XBLA and indie games that impressive more with the tech first hand (besides 1 or 2 big launch titles), before devs really get to grips with the idea factory.

Something like Flower for example, controlling that game with your hand would be perfect - Experience is a few hours long and it's based upon you being the wind controlling a petal(s). Things like that off XBLA could impress, but I'm so far struggling to see why I'd want to use Natal over a controller for most typical game experiences, just like I don't want to use a skateboard for Tony Hawk Ride.

You guys give epic lulz... not.

OMG ITS TEH FAKEZ!! GIMMIKZ!!11

At least it's the first step to thinking 'outside the box' and away from controllers, yeah, it might not be the best thing ever when it's released, but the concept once it is out there could be just the push that developers need to get off their asses and make something great.

Yes, people calling a low-res video fake definitely means they don't like Natal as well - What the hell kinda logic is that?

If you're talking about my comment it doesn't mean I don't like Natal, I don't worry much about the hardware it's an excellent new fresh concept, I worry about the software and ultimately software is what I get my pleasure out of.

So calm off the beans, maybe I should of just said "fake video" and left it at that, but I carried on a wee bit as this topic is relating to an FPS, something I don't think Natal will ever seriously be used for (aside from complimenting a control based input).
