Cy-Kill
Sign up for the Final Fantasy MMO beta as well as that should be starting soon. You know how many people want to get in on the Closed Beta, start counting, when you get to a million, keep going, because you're going to be extremely lucky if you're chosen to participate in the Closed Beta, and no one is sure when the CB is actually going to happen. Im still waiting on this cat: http://us.jumpgateevolution.com/Looks likes a great alt. to Freelancer I am also waiting for that, I signed up to get into the CB as soon as they opened signups, I believe that was near the end of 2008, or sometime in the first quarter of 2009. neo158
Well I'll add Lord of the Rings Online, I used to be a WoW player and that made the transition to LotRO easier. Not to mention the ?149.99 Founders Subscription meaning no more monthly fees. Personally, I got bored of EVE Online very quickly due to the lack of a storyline. No amount of graphical makeovers can mask the fact that in order to get anywhere you have to spend months improving your skills and mine asteroids constantly to gain enough money to improve your ship. Shadrack
Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I'm giving Warhammer a go for at least a month and then see what i think of it after that. I like some aspects of it, but it does feel like it lacks polish in some areas. I'm partial to fantasy over sci-fi. Eve Online seems to have had pretty good longevity, overall. Then, I think you would like Star Wars: The Old Republic, because as you know Star Wars is a mixture of fantasy & scifi.
spy beef
I heard that Real Life is a pretty good MMO. There's 5.1 ? 10^8 km? of terrain to cover. There are so many different races and classes to play. You easily retrain your class at institutions known as a college/university. I heard that an expansion pack called Space will be coming out soon. Current expansions include the "Middle East Conflict", and "Global Warming". New content is introduced every single minute of the day. If you're into PVP, you can always join an army of the 100+ factions available... There are currently approx 6 billion subscribers worldwide, and that number is rising every single day. You do have to pay a subscription fee though, it is based on the income you make ingame over a year. /sarcasm Edited January 3, 2010 by s3n4te

Shadrack
I find it funny how many of these MMO have "makers of <insert fail MMO here>" and "<insert another not so good MMO here>" in their "build-up" to a new fail MMO. Why don't they focus on making 1 really good MMO? I'm not sure how much more of Warhammer I can stand. It is just OK. The interface is very inconsistent. The engine is very inefficient and lags a lot (my machine should pull 150+ fps with the kind of graphics Warhammer has). I don't like how there are not any hybrid classes. There also seems to be a plethora of redundant classes. With all these classes and all these races available, you would think there wouldn't be very many Zealots running around. Boy was I wrong. Seems like every group I join has 1 or 2 other Zealots. I'm going to find another class... The public quests were really cool at first (Ranks 1-8). Seems like there were people at each public quest spot at the beginning so it was easy to complete them. After Rank 10, all the public questing areas seem dead. Looks like you need to get a group together to do them as everyone else is doing RvR. RvR seems decent, but I'm not convinced there is any balance in it. The way it is designed it seems like the side with the most people will win. Also, soloing is getting increasingly difficult. Most of my time is traveling between places right now which is getting annoying. I'm going to give it until I reach level 20 on a toon and then decide if I'm going to continue or try something else. True. I think of EVE as a good mmo for people who don't want to play all that much. The game is great if you are busy with work, etc, since you can just train skills in the background, logon and play for a bit. The game kinda sucks though, if you have time off, since you are just sitting and waiting for skills to be done. :/ Also, it helps knowing that the 14 year old who has all day to sit at home, isn't getting too far ahead of you in his skill advancement. :p

Cy-Kill
RUNESCAPE :D Stupid game, drains your life: Longest Time Spent Playing an MMORPG: Sara Lhadi logged 16,799 hours grinding away in Runescape (Runescape!?) between November 2004 and October 2009 (I guess she hasn't stopped). That's nearly 700 days, which is nearly two solid years of game time! Also, that averages out to 9 hours 20 minutes a day. http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/200...dition-has.aspx

Jaybonaut
Wait for DC Universe Online! Eh, I dunno, City of Heroes will be coming up on it's 6th year and if you include development... that is a ton of content/refinements that DC has to go up against. Don't get me started on the crapfest that is Champions.

I used to have an account on CoH/CoV, when they did there come back and play thing last year, I did, and found I still couldn't complete the quest I was on when I stopped playing in 2006 for the very same reason. So, wait for DCUO, it's much better than the crapfest that is CoH/CoV & CO.
PricklyPoo
I'm downloading the trial now. I'm curious about this game. Well if you end up liking it, make sure to find a good corp, makes it much more from. Went from grinding missions, etc, to messing around in wormholes now. :p Btw, been listening to your music, good stuff! :D Kinda sounds like a song I uploaded a few days ago... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_So6ZqJZa4k

How easy is it to adapt to this game? I've never heard about it and here I am about to play it :p :p Well, I'd recommend just starting of doing missions or mining. So, depending on what you want to do, (if fighting, courier, etc) go to a station and find a level one agent, accept the mission and follow directions in the journal. If mining, just go to the nearest asteroid belt and mine away. You will need a frigate to start off with. Also, for some equipment, you have to buy skill books and train the skills to use it, same with better ships as you progress. For example, you might start of being able to fly a Caldari frigate that requires a skill level of 2 in Caldari Frigates, but to get the next better frigate, you will need to train Caldari Frigates skill to level 3. It is more fun once you start progressing and get different skills. Then you can mess around and explore wormholes, join a corporation, pvp... My name in game is PricklyPoo, so just add me. Also, it doesn't matter which race or career you pick. None of it has any effect whatsoever on what you can do in the future.
Shadrack
:p WoW is more of a straight line until 80, with a minor bump. Seriously, there is no increased difficulty when leveling. The game stays about the same difficulty level throughout leveling. Evidence of that is in all the level 80's in the game that don't seem to have a clue how to play their classes. That is how I pictured Eve though :). I have seen other people play it *yawn*, but I haven't played it myself. I'll give it a try.

McCordRm
The ONLY thing I disliked about Eve Online was the ship combat. It's point-and-click. If they had implemented being able to use a flight stick I would have stayed with it. I have two fairly built-up accounts from when I was playing, just couldn't stay with it. I'm currently playing Darkfall Online which is a full PvP game. It has a few issues (what game doesn't), but I'm enjoying the hell out of it.
