Must have PS3 accessory

Recommended Posts

Hey

My friend (yes the same from the backup thread) just got a PS3 (Not sure for christmas or his birthday since they are so close) and I have yet to give him a present so I though Id buy him a accessory for the PS3. Which is a "must have"?

I'd suggest the official bluetooth headset but he's just going to end up talking to himself ... Give him the remote, a man can never have too many remotes.

Not a MP* or/and online type of guy. A remote? The one that controls blu-ray movies? I doubt he would be intrested in that as his TV is not HD or anything so BRs I dont think he will watch.

* - Online MP. He LOVES offline MP.

If you're in the UK and only watch freeview definitely PlayTV and a Bluetooth remote.

Not in UK.

Get a 360 instead then you can buy nicely priced addons.

OH damn, broke my new years resolution :(

Just joking, cheap pair or real triggers, god send, Sony cocked up big time sliding the triggers on the DS3 downwards.

A second controller then? A pair of Real Triggers perhaps?

He has all 7 controllers.

He actually loves the new triggers (one of the first questions I asked him)

I couldn't live without these

See above.

7? What the f ...

Sounds like he doesn't need anything, tell him to get lost then.

This is my present to him for this birthday. Im not going to tell him to get lost

Oh! Give ham a new HDD, something like a 250 Gig sucker?

This is something I thought about on the way home....

The only thing needed to be compatible is:

2.5"

SATA (1 or 2)

right?

I also thought about a PS2 memory card to PS3 USB converter but not sure if the PS3 runs PS2 games anymore.

This converter runs in a WHOLE lot closer to my budget.

Get him a game or a wireless keyboard.

i would prefer a game since wireless keabord is needed only when you plan online mutiplayer.

A game will make him happy. Go for Little big planet. i am sure he will like it.

personally i use the Remote more then anything, for both Netflix/BR and because i use my PS3 as my regular DVD player

Like said, he isnt a online type of person :)

The PS3 doesn't cost money for online, PSN card means credits that can be spent on downloadable games.

LittleBigPlanet is VERY online orientated and no offline multiplayer (in the strict traditional sense)

Get him Uncharted: Drake's Fortune! It's is purely offline and a great game (and also over 2 years old, so shouldn't be too expensive)

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has no MP.

He might start to use it as a DVD player. Who knows....He already has one though and doesnt even plan to use the blu-ray function to view movies (because of the TV issue)

He actually only got the PS3 because he likes PES2010 and the PS2 version was kinda "behind". Yes, I dont know either and yes, I would have got a 360 instead.

+1 for the bluray remote. I use it everyday for things like browsing through my streaming media, netflix, and even the PS store. I couldn't live without it. It makes a wonderful dvd player, the remote is solid and the system is very cool and quiet

PSN Card is a good idea. As the above person said, PSN is free, it just means he could buy a game. Lemmings is good, Worms, an old PS2 classic. Wipeout HD. Buzz quiz packs. Some of the pixeljunk games are great fun. Not sure how cheap you can buy cards for though. Sorry.
