+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 3, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted January 3, 2010 Earlier this week, Sony accidentally offered Armored - a movie that's still playing in theatres - for download on the PlayStation Store. What's more, they offered it for free. Whoops. It was all a big mistake, of course, and one that was corrected in around five hours, but during that window it was available, people grabbed it, and people are now watching it on their PS3s and PSPs. For free. Interesting that, mistake or not, the movie had already been processed and cleared for digital download, indicating its actual, intended release may not have been that far away. Source: http://kotaku.com/5438481/sony-puts-in+the...aystation-store Looks like a crap movie but the reason I'm posting that is the bolded part. The day cinemas maybe only get a few days/week advantage would be really good. I'd love to happily spend something similar, hopefully a bit less though, and enjoy new films for rental through my PS3/360. I have my own sound system. Yeah I know the whole "cinema feel", "night out", blah blah, but sometimes you just cba going to the cinema to see every single new film you're interested in then need to wait months for them to come to DVD usually. Cinemas will probably be worried either way :p
TDQuiksilver
There are many movies I'd much rather watch within the walls of my own home... without the constant sound of snack bags, kids, and teenies yappin'. Bring it on. :)

torrentthief
not sure if this is true as its not on the usual places to download, only camcorder versions, surely thousands of people would have downloaded it in the 5hr period?
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 3, 2010 Author Subscriber² Share Posted January 3, 2010 Uhhh DRM, you can't copy video off the PS3 (store video, you can with your own videos), only redownload it to the PS3 as many times as you want and/or view it on the PSP. So no, it wouldn't end up in pirates hands if it's internally been encoded at Sony.

Try googling "Armored PSPRip" or something close to that and that may or may not prove to you if it was gotten into pirate hands.

There are DVDRips out there of Armored; It leaked out first week of Jan, a few days prior to Sony's oppsie.
