Another vote for the old style. I like checking out general Gamer news and then going into the sub-section I feel like looking at.

I like the new style over the old one.

However, just like the Jokes section, I think there should simply be a Gamers thread and you can add

a [TAG] to differentiate between platform-specific topics. (As mentioned before)

In my opinion, that would be even worse than the new style. The old style is all about seamless convenient browsing, TAGs would just disorganise everything further.

The old style did feel a bit more self explanatory. Gamer's Hangout as a parent forum was for cross platform games and such while the company specific sub forums were for platform specific titles or issues. With the new layout, a new user would have no idea that Gamers Hangout is actually for the more general stuff.

Another vote for the Old Style. I realize that the admins are trying to make the layout uniform across the forums, but the old style was much easier to use, and that's got to be more important.

And bangbang023 took the words right out of my mouth.

I null voted; I don't mind either way. Usually I jump into Computer Gaming directly.

A suggestion (don't take this as official word, it's merely a suggestion) would be to put forum redirectors at the top of Gamers' Hangout to please the old time regulars. So it shows up like a forum, but clicking it would redirect you to the correct forum. (edit: this was suggested already)

It doesn't show new posts in the various subfolders like GH used to though.

Yep this is my biggest thing, I used to hit up the GH first, then hit up the subsections right from it and usually see the latest thread and go right to it as well.

I already expressed how I liked the old style in the thread in Site Announcements, so I definitely prefer the old style as well.

That's true. It's just a giant shortcut and nothing else.

Wouldn't it be nice if forums had symbolic links like operating systems. :)

Another vote to bring back the old organization.

GH was always like the GD of the gaming section - a place for random topics, official threads for multi-platform titles, etc. and the manufacturer-specific forums were offshoots of that discussion to be more detailed and specific.

Not to mention that now it requires more clicks to move within the gaming sections, and is much less intuitive.

I prefer the "new style" because it puts areas like Computer Gaming and Mobile Gaming out in the open. It also makes sense when you view the Gamers' Hangout as a hub for general gaming news and discussion, and the other areas as their own respective 'corners' for discussion and news.

That's redundant. All you have to do is go back once and select your desired sub-forum.

More clicking to get where you want to go your way, less clicking to get to where you want to go my way.

Please Neowin I never ever ask for anything but, please make it how it used to be, the old familiar functional style. This really is case of fixing something that is not broken. I have seen what improvements are to come for this site and I am extremely pleased and grateful for them all but this particular change is just a nuisance. Please listen to us regulars, this effects us the most.

Dude, chill the fark out. This is like the 3rd time you posted that you like your idea! We saw and we know! WE already even discussed it and it was deemed "fail":

https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...amp;p=592069900[/url]']It doesn't show new posts in the various subfolders like GH used to though.

So calm down and stop posting something that was discussed! :pc:

Anyways, I like the old way better. There was A LOT more activity the old way and I posted that activity dropped in the official change thread, but was ignored. The new way would be good if we had a lot of gaming activity with the site as a whole, news and stuff.

If you put everything under one roof, how many pages would you have to get through to see any wii/ds/psp related threads?

Definitely the old layout for me.

I am a VERY frequent poster in this category, in ALL FOUR SECTIONS.

I miss the old way, this new one really really sucks.

TOO MANY DAMN FORUMS AND PLACES TO CLICK TO GET BACK TO WHERE I WANT TO NAVIGATE TO! :(

I wonder if it'd be possible to have an option for those of us who like the old, and those of us who like the new.

The new is just one too many clicks to navigate.
