Shadrack
Hi! Is it possible to change the icon of a specific file (without effecting all other files of its type)? I have made a link to boot my "BootCamp Partition" from VMWare (I think it is an alias but I'm not very familiar with the mac os filesystem). It looks like a standard document with the VMWare Fusion logo in the middle of it. Is there anyway for me to change this to something that looks more Windows 7ish? Thanks! furby
Should be able to: 1. On the icon you want to change, right click..Get Info (or cmd+i) 2. On the icon you want to replace it with do the same (cmd+i) 3. Click on the icon image and copy it (cmd+c) 4. Go back to the other info window and click on that icon image and paste (cmd+v) If the little image icon is blank then use http://www.img2icnsapp.com/
Shadrack
Thanks for the reply. What if I have a .png file that I would like to use as the icon? Will I need to convert it to another format?
MasterC
Thanks for the reply. What if I have a .png file that I would like to use as the icon? Will I need to convert it to another format? Yes. Use an app called IMG2ICNS to convert it to a folder icon. After you drag and drop, CMD+I the newly created folder and copy and paste the icon onto your VM shortcut. http://www.img2icnsapp.com/

Nightkrawler
What if I have a .png file that I would like to use as the icon? Will I need to convert it to another format? You can also open the .png in preview, press cmd + a to select everything, cmd + c to copy it to clipboard and paste it to the icon in the "get info..." window - no 3rd party Apps required most of the time :)

Nightkrawler
It wont work if the user doesn't have writing rights on the file/folder - could it have been that? I just tried it and it even works with .jpg as icon source for me...
Phantom Helix
It just makes it blank like invisible permissions are fine
