Xbox Membership Renewal

Recommended Posts

Currently my 12 Month Membership is running out next month. I paid for it on xbox.com last year cause they had a deal. I don't want to pay there price that they have right now (59.99) and also do not want to call and cancel.

If I were to buy a 12 month membership from another seller, and activate it. Would Microsoft still charge me for the automatic renewal of last years?

Not sure what you're asking. If you cancel auto renew it won't cancel the time you have left. Then you can just buy another 12 months or however long somewhere else and activate that.

No, my auto renew is coming up. They will charge me 59.99 in February.

If I go and buy 12 months from another place, enter the key or what not. Will Microsoft still charge me as well.

Don't think so, usually the moment you enter in a new code XBL will immediately jump to that rather than auto-renewing; at least that is what has happened if i've ever entered a 2 day time card or such. Why not just buy the 12 months, and then cancel the auto renew right as you put in the bought time? A 3 minute cancellation should have no adverse effects.

For the record and for future reference - I got my 360 for Christmas in 2008 and set up Live on the 26th with auto-renew (12-month). This past Christmas (2009), my parents bought me a 12-month Live card. I entered the code on the Xbox.com web site and was able to get Live renewed until 2011 and my card did not get charged - I never turned off auto-renew either. Granted, I did it before it was set to charge for the auto-renew, but as long as you do it that way, you won't get charged.

I have always disabled auto-renew before entering in a pre-paid Live card. I'd rather not take the chance of getting charged again and having to go through the process of calling billing for a refund or filing a chargeback.

Also, if you haven't picked up yours yet, you should get it from Amazon ASAP. They have it for $34.99 right now. Although it'll have to get shipped since their little web-code page has been down for awhile.

I also believe Walmart has it for $35 if you want to pick it up in-store.
