I wonder why there has been so little hype about this game, it almost has seemed to arrive unnoticed. It seems really interesting to me and is just about the release-corner even here in Sweden.

Anyway, its a action game with 3rd person combat hack&slash gameplay in the style of lots of other similar games. But it has a larger world and lots of puzzles and dungeons to explore, borrowing from games like Zelda f.e. The artstyle is fairly cartoony, which isn't surprising because the famous comic artist Joe Madureira is creative director. Some might comment the style looks a bit like WoW, but Joe Mad has drawn stuff like this long before WoW came out. But not in a video game of course.

On Metacritic 85/100 currently (and links to a lot of other reviews):

(GT has done other reviews like this before, with a lot of nitpicking throughout the review, and still they give the game good scores. It's like they failed to edit in the parts where they praise the game. Not a good review really, and probably the 3rd one I see at GT which fails in the exact same way. So I shouldn't really have linked this one as its a badly done review)

What I'm confused about is that Game Informer and IGN both said that the PS3 version is the one that suffers the slow down and screen tearing. But, others say that it's the 360 version that is worse. So, I don't know who to believe.

I am excited for the game though. Zelda + God of War + Angels/Horsemen? Yes Please!

Strange. The GT video review mentioned tearing but nothing about frame rate issues. They were playing the 360 version in the video.

Just finished this (12-15 hrs long, didn't grab all the collectables maybe about 75% of them). Enjoyed this a lot more than I did Bayonetta.

What system did you play it on? I'm probably going to get it for the 360 because I'm more invested in achievements than I am trophies, but I after re-reading a lot of the reviews I guess the 360 version has some tearing issues. Did you notice any?

edit:

Looks like Vigil is going to fix the issue for the 360. Sweeeeet. (Y)

Is this game a MUST play? cause I'd rather save up for other AAA titles.

If you haven't got the money I'd rent it.

Yep, only on the platforming bits though, combat the frame rate drops to 30-40.

IGN reports there will be a patch to fix the screen-tearing issues;

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/105/1058958p1.html

Madeuira confirmed that Vigil has been made aware of the issue and is already planning a fix: "It's something that's really not a difficult fix for us and so we're going to implement a patch to resolve the problem. We're fairly certain it'll happen really soon so look out for it."

Yeah, I was going to make the offical topic but the beach was on the way hehe, and yes, much much much better than Bayonetta, it's like GOW + Zelda + Legacy of Kain + Hexen (Y)

Completed this day after release and thought it was shockingly terrible.

Perhaps it's likeable if you like that WoW artstyle, like excessively dramatic photography and dialouge mixed with awkward fight controls and bizzare goals to achieve.

The effort to reward ratio wasn't balanced properly, and the game left me with little anticipation of reward (which is a biggie, it's how we get our dopamine surge from, not the reward it self).

What a truely horrendous game and god that rant felt good. Ahhh

All I can say is if you like Zelda like puzzles this game is a wet dream for you. If you broke this game down into its two big components that being the puzzle/environmental play and the combat play, I would personally say the puzzle play vastly outweighs the combat. If you are thinking this looks like a fun GoW alternative I would suggest you chill a cpl weeks and pick up Dantes inferno instead.

I love the combat and the combat system I found very easy intuitive and fun to use and I like the story behind this game and playing a horseman but all these puzzles particularly in the last stages just seem excessive and make me want to blugeon my head in.

I got my moneys worth out of the game but no chance in hell I would play it again.

I finished the game last night. I played it on Apocalyptic difficulty on my first play through and had no problems. The game was easy for the most part barring a few cheap set-piece battles.

The puzzles made clever use of the items, for the most part. Combat, while pretty easy, was also brutal and flashy. The story was kind of derivative, but I like the whole Angels vs Demons vs Horsemen plot. So that didn't bother me too much. The art style was probably my favorite aspect of the design. I thought all the major characters and War looked pretty awesome; especially once you unlock the Abyssal armor and Armageddon Blade.

Even though it was pretty easy when compared to similar games, overall it was just a blast to play. And that's really the ultimate goal, is it not?

That is retarded. I know I am not all that skilled with games, because I grew up cheating on the PC.

But I am playing it on Easy and there has been some pretty hard parts. And I don't see how you played it on the hardest setting, let alone found it easy on the hardest setting.

I think some people just kick-arse at this game style. A mate and I purchased this on the same day and his final game time was < 1/2 of my final time. Although apocoplytic boggles my mind too, still as a previous post mentioned as long as you enjoy the game its all good.

Didn't think much of this game since most of the previews only showed fight sequences making it look like a tired God of War clone... took a chance and must say, as a old school gamer, I really love the game :) if you enjoyed the old Zelda-games, I can almost guarantee that you will like this.. alot

Glad to see a demo showing off more of the dungeon play is coming as well.. hopefully more people will discover the game.
