According to the newest issue of Qore (via Examiner), Heavy Rain now has a US date: February 16.

Sony revealed the date in the new episode of its interactive PlayStation magazine.

Earlier this week, SCEE told us that a European date would be forthcoming "in the next few weeks", although CVG reckons it's February 26.

Sony also told us that the collector's edition in the UK would be exclusive to HMV, although it won't be coming to the US.

The game was rated a 15 by the BBFC as well this week.

A new trailer was released yesterday. Go watch it here.

I'll cry if USA gets this earlier, SCEE made game damnit!

The end of that new trailer almost reminds me of Saw as if he's cutting his hand off for some reason for the kid.

Probably seeing it wrong, and obviously I don't know Japanese :p

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the US release date has been confirmed today as the 23rd February – and although there are still some final tests and checks to be completed, I wanted to let you all know that you can expect to see Heavy Rain on-shelves across PAL regions during the same week – Wednesday 24th February for mainland Europe, and Friday 26th February in the UK and Ireland.

nice! looking forward to pick this up! Although, I will be probably be ****ed about the 'once you die, you die. ' part. That might get annoying. For an example, if you really want to finish it and you don't want to start the whole game again.. yeah that might get really annoying. I know there are other characters.. but say you like this one character and use him or her. Him or her dies and you'd be like ****! And you can't use them anymore.. grrr...

That's one way to get you to play the game through multiple times. :p

That's part of sculpting your "own" story, there is no game over things continue :p It's very unlikely death sequences are going to be harsh on the player, to end up dieing you're probably going to need to screw up a fair few command inputs, not just one like most QTE in games - As I've seen in gameplay footage with fights, messing up usually just branches the fight a different way, it doesn't instantly kill you with one mistake.

Gives it good replayability as well, and rumour so far is there is 20 different endings.

^but then sometimes don't you guys hate the feeling that you have done this over and over again? Like say you really want to finish the ending with a particular character. That character always dies at that same part in the story. lol. Then you are back to square one. I'm just saying.. I am looking forward to this game, but I guess you should have an option to try again or load checkpoint or something. So you don't have to hassle around the whole story intro that you already know.

Um it's possible for all 4 characters to live, I don't really know if I should spoiler that or not, but Cage has already openly admitted everything is in your hands.

It's something you complete once, get your experience, share it with people online if they want to know, then come back to the game later to try again.

Trust me I really dont think people are going to treat this game like others with "moral" choices, or save points where you save/reload just to see a slightly different scene.

Really pumped to get a demo, but I think it's one of those demos that does have the potential to hurt people with quick close minded perceptions - It's such a story based game you need to bond and get to know the characters.

In a demo such characters are meaningless to you, you know nothing about them, or very little and dont have much time to spend with them.

That said there was a special Fahrenheit demo, so if they could do something that makes itself clear it's not story heavy but is more to show you the gameplay only, I'd approve.

Otherwise I'd say demo after release to try help those on the fence take the jump and just buy.

I for one am looking forward to this game, but there are still some things I've read that make me reluctant towards it. I have never played Indigo Prophecy so I don't really know what to expect.

But some previews have garnered it a glorified point-and-click game. And that all of the action in the game is done by quick time events.

Hopefully I will feel emotionally invested in the characters, but I really hope it doesn't feel like a long drawn out cut scene.

Yes, they will... When I worked there over Christmas they had POS delivered saying the special edition would be available and it was due on the 26th... Was disappointed to say the least... Now the US is getting it on the 16th? I hate publishers sometimes

Yay thank you <3

Now I can get the special edition for ?29.99 as long as your online price, ?39.99 is the same as the store price (I have a ?10 gift voucher).

Can you pre-order in-store? I want a copy of the special edition guaranteed on release.

I saw the Qore video about the game and now I'm very interested in the game. Story sounds good and I like that the game is different. This and WKC are going to be the games I'm going to get on February.

Another Perfectly Good Piece Of Box Art, Ruined By Americans

What is it with American publishers - Sony Computer Entertainment in particular - and ruining nice pieces of foreign box art that should otherwise have been left untouched? Take Heavy Rain, for example.

500x_rainuk.jpg

Above is the PAL cover to the game, revealed a month or so ago. It's dark, it's mysterious, it's slightly menacing. Exactly like Heavy Rain. It's a classy cover!

Now look at the American cover, below, spotted on Amazon. SCEA obviously believed an all-origami cover wasn't obvious enough, and instead filled the cover with...well, yes. A couple of things wetter, and more prominent, than the papercraft.

It's not quite as bad as the stunt Sony pulled with Ico's cover back in the day, but then, few stunts could be.

Americans need to see a gun on the cover or else its "OMGZ NOT GTA/CALL OF DUTY PEW PEW?"

Nah but it is worse than the EU cover, glad I'm getting the one I am :) It's not a terrible cover though.
