Call Of Duty 7 release date - November

CVG can confirm that Activision has pencilled in a November release for the seventh Call Of Duty - which will be set in the late 1960s, during the Vietnam War.

Following this week's rumours, a senior UK trade source today told us that the Treyarch-developed title is scheduled to arrive a full 12 months after last year's Modern Warfare 2.

They added that the game would be set during the Vietnam conflict - and takes particular influence from classic movies Apocalypse Now and Platoon.

"It's going to be November again - just as with World At War and Modern Warfare 2," they told CVG.

"Activision believes that it can own Christmas 2010, just as it has in the last two years.

"Development is on course - and Treyarch have been told the game must be ready to hit shelves before the gifting season."

Activision declined to comment when contacted by CVG.

I knew it! I bloody called it in the predictions thread! :p

  • Call of Duty 7 (I'm betting on it being set either in the future, or in Vietnam)

Naturally, as it's a Treyarch title, I will not be buying it.

Wonder if there will be a playable part of the game where the politicians dictate your orders and not field officers

This is getting beyond a joke here, yearly COD is going to run this series into the ground.... Not to mention switching developers/chopping and changing time frames.

God Activision are such a terrible company from a gamers point of view, from the money side, yeah fine, but I'm a gamer not a stock holder.

W@W was great, I'll watch this see how it turns out. I don't know why people just automatically hate Treyarch.

That whole Banzai rush in W@W was indeed pretty cool and all, but something felt off about it, shooting loads of targets just felt, i dunno, totally fake. Maybe it's just me heh.

Because the games they make a rubbish, they are just a copy job company that still manages to take a successful recipe and make it boring.

So it won't be historically accurate and

Treyarch have been told the game must be ready to hit shelves before the gifting season."

It may not be finished in time.

They can't help it if the boss is demanding a release in like 8-10 months. It's not like you can do much, even the best devs will take 2 years at least to make a good game, everyone should know that. I give them some credit, hell CoD3 had some nice new stuff in it back then.

I wasn't a fan of the previous Treyarch COD but W@W was a great game IMO. I'm a bigger fan of the MW series but I really enjoyed W@W. In response to GP007 above, they do have 2 years to develop the title, that's why development is passed back and forth between Treyarch and Infinity Ward every year.

W@W wasn't rubbish, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

THIS.

Guitar Hero every year...

Call of Duty every year...

There's only so much of a franchise you can take before there are too many of them and they're crap.

Oh hai COD!

They shouldn't be releasing them every year- there will come a time when it gets so bad that no one will buy it. Though that'll be when they release 3 in a year- one from Treyarch, Infinity Ward and the third team they set up.

These games coming out every year was the goal of Activision and why we are starting to see games with no lasting appeal. If gamers keep buying this slop, soon other companies will pick up on this and then what do you have? A bunch of crap games that no one cares about for more than 2 or 3 months.

You do know that Vietnam rumour has been circling for ages?

Yes, I know, but when I posted in the predictions thread that I reckoned the next CoD would be a Vietnam one, people just shot down my suggestion, and it somehow ended up into a huge debate about Vietnam games, which surprisingly, I didn't start. :p
