Call of Duty 7 release date and setting confirmed

Say worst and I might agree with you - Infinity Ward were forced to just fill the game to the brim with new stuff, the game buckled under its own weight.

As I've said before in my impressions and mini-reviews, Modern Warfare 1 was a fantastic, fast paced first-person shooter with some fairly innovative features for the genre ( Perks, Killstreaks etc. ).

Everything was done with some sense, you still had the solid 'core' gameplay shine through and the perks, killstreaks, challenges and attachments adding some flavour. Now, all of the aforementioned features ARE the game, the game has been smothered in them and the 'core' gameplay as a great shooter is slowly drowned in random variables, lucky choices and AI controlled items to dominate the game.

It has also become the perfect teen-boy fantasy battlefield, there's so many ways to humiliate and dominate your opponents with ease if you are on a lucky streak, without the help from your teammates. There is no sense, no real tactics or no use of the mind in this game ( Although some people want you to believe that ) it's just a "frat boy shooter" where you can scream OMG PWNED every other second.

So as you will notice, once many people tried the nuke a few times, been through the various unlockable weapons, perks and attachments, the interest in the game slowly dies out. The only people who stick with the game this time around is those who love what I described above.

This is bound to offend someone but that's what I feel and I no longer respect Infinity Ward as long as they stay the course.

I agree with your points, but I still think it's a solid game, and I certainly enjoy playing it. I think some of this hate is going overboard and getting a pretty petty. Especially when you try and slam those who like it.

I expected more from MW2, as I am sure most people did. Though I also expected more from COD4 and W@W, but I enjoyed them all more than enough to justify the purchase.

Alot of people seem to be very bitter about not enjoying this game.

Wrong there. Each CoD game takes two years to develop. Treyarch have been working on CoD 7 since CoD WaW came out, and IW were working on MW2 right after MW1 came out.

Infinity Ward is the developer that takes two years to develop a game, they stand by doing no less. Treyarch can do it in one and has. Where are your sources that Treyarch has been working on the next Call of Duty since World at War release? You do know that in that time after its release they do get a break, fixed new bugs/glitches and also created 3 downloadable contents? They create the game in around a year.

Activision just wants a new release of Call of Duty each year to bring in money, rather than waiting every 2 years. As to why Treyarch was brought into develop the other title while Infinity Ward works on theirs.

This is getting beyond a joke here, yearly COD is going to run this series into the ground.... Not to mention switching developers/chopping and changing time frames.

God Activision are such a terrible company from a gamers point of view, from the money side, yeah fine, but I'm a gamer not a stock holder.

I assume you are kidding here. They just came off their best selling title ever (COD MW2), and the previous 2 years were also better than previous years. Looks like they are doing EXACTLY what gamers want. More great games, and we are getting them.

  • 2 weeks later...

None of this matters. I don't care if Treyarch or IW develop the game Activision has shows itself to be all about the money and not quality games. The fact that they throughly f%*ked the PC gamers in the world should be justification enough to never buy a product ever again from them.
