John.D
Win 7 x64 bit on this, 32 bit on the other. Since its not a 64 bit CPU. Could put a 64 bit OS on the AMD socket 754, but nah. I'll leave XP on it

i_was_here
What the point of this poll? Most new machines (except for netbooks) are 64-bit. What matters is whether you also use a 64-bit OS.
Awsta
Now I'm using 32-bit, but my new gear will have 64-bit. Isn't this the default now for new pc's/laptops?
ehlo
64bit since 2005  apart from my older machines and netbook that don't support it I don't really see any reason why you wouldn't, if your hardware supports it. Any hardware that wasn't supported in XP x64, is unlikely to have updated drivers for Vista/

Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted January 15, 2010 Global Moderator Share Posted January 15, 2010 I'm not surprised by the way the voting is going on this forum.. 64bit seems to be the mainstream here.. if you have built or purchased a system within the last 2 years and use Windows 7, you are most likely on 64-bit. If you took this poll with every person in the world, the 32bit would definitely dwarf 64bit in usage.

A lot of people have old hardware and don't want to upgrade. Even on this site we have people trying to patch their 32bit OS's to get more than 4GB of RAM since they don't want to use a 64bit version. antsy
I have a 64bit processor (I think) and 32bit OS (I think) I have thought about upgrading my OS to 64bit but with a 3 year old computer I'm not sure if it's worth it?
