Shine A Light On This Alan Wake Gameplay Clip

500x_alanwakeclip.jpg

Finnish game developer Remedy Entertainment, best known for its Max Payne video games, has released a gameplay clip of its upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive, the thriller Alan Wake.

The clip is short ? a mere 33 seconds. However, the blink-and-you'll-miss-it clip shows a little bit how the flashlight will be used in the game, the day-light cycle and how the "dark forces" enemies are sensitive to light.

Impressive. Though it doesn't look like his flashlight made any difference in lighting. Maybe cause these scenes were all taken

outdoors. I'd carry a pistol instead. :D

I think that light weakens the enemys.

Yeah, from what I've seen in the developer diaries, etc. light is going to be your main weapon against the enemies. You use the light to weaken them in some fashion so that they become vulnerable to your "conventional" weaponry.

Still, looks really sweet. The more I see of this game, the more I'm getting really excited for it.

The enemies are basically shadows with no real physical form until you hit them with light and it makes them take shape so then you can blast them in the end. It's a very interesting and fresh gameplay Idea compared to the stuff we got in the silent hill games.

It also looks very good and will probably look better when it's done. I know for sure the story telling and plot will be top notch since this is being penned by the max payne creator who's name I can't remember atm. But the 2 original MPs had great story telling.

A Heavy Rain killer with Poets of the Fall sound track, right why I needed :)

What on earth does this game have to do with Heavy Rain?

One title next year I am interested on seeing how it pans out now that Silent Hill is down the pan.

How can Alan Wake be a Heavy Rain killer when both games are exclusive to their respective systems??

Oh right, it can't.

Yea. Not to mention two totally different genres for starters... Just let the guy bask in his abnormality.

Looks really good... I take it the PC version is dead now, though?

Chance it won't be, but MS will certainly have an exclusivity window on it to push 360s - Not that half the PC world wouldn't pirate it anyway, but the window will help push some 360s if it's a good title.

 I swear it, I was stop watch in one hand and presing F5 with the other, waiting for AB response ;) 2 min 32 secs!!

Nothing to do superficialy, but both are hot adventure/Psi thrillers exclusives, well to me at least :p

And it features "WAR" from poets of the fall, best euro pop-rock band ever

Of course I would reply, I like hunting down daft comments from people :p

One deals with the supernatural, one deals with the serial killing of children, they're hardly anything alike - It's like comparing Supernatural to CSI Miami or something. It's just the usual Draken doesn't own a PS3 so has to try and put down any exclusives it has by saying the 360 has the "killer of it" ;)

Fine by me, I'm always on the ball ;)

Even beat my colleagues to it who all agreed it was a dumb comparison as well! Gold star.

it kind of reminds me of the mechanics they used in old japanese RPG or adventure games.... somehow getting light to shine of 'ghost' type enemies to materialize them so that you could physically attack them

didnt that Zelda game for the Gamecube do that?

Not to be an ass about it but.....

Please discuss topics respectfully. Attempts to bait others into flamewars will not be tolerated. The use of "fanboy" (or any similar derogatory term) when used against a specific member or group of members will be considered flame-bait and/or a personal attack. You also may not join a discussion for the purpose of destroying it by making lame and unhelpful comments. Such people will be dealt with accordingly. In summary, no flamebaiting, no trolling and no personal attacks.

Surely stating that you had a stopwatch in hand awaiting a reply is pretty much admiting you were baiting him into the discussion? :p

Back on topic, certainly looks like a decent game although been a while coming, I remember the original trailers for this back when the Nintendo Revolution fake trailers were about!
