Shadrack
Hi! I installed the Rowmote Helper App and it set itself up to run at startup. I'd rather it not run at startup. I checked my Login Items in User in System Preferences, and it is not in the list. What else can I check? I still want to be able to open it from Applications if I'm going to use the software. Any input appreciated. Thanks! -Shad Oh, and Connect360 is added to my Login Items whenever I load it. It is really annoying. There doesn't seem to be an option to keep it from doing that. If I remove Connect360 from my Login Items, and later "Start" Connect360 it automatically adds itself to my account's Login Items.
Phantom Helix
Not sure about connect 360, I MediaLink from the same place but rowmote, if you double click the icon and no window pops up asking if you want to quit it, that means you just started the service and at this point if you check your login items it will be displayed there, now if you double click the icon again it will ask you if you want to quit the app, if you do quit it it will no longer be in your login items and should not auto start the next time you restart. basically if it is shutdown when you restart it should not auto-start itself. It only runs with about 4mb of memory and no processor % not sure why you want it off unless it interferes with another app, but I haven't found one that it does

I don't want to start it up unless I'm using it...umm..just because. I don't like it when things start up and run in the background if I know that I won't use it most of the time. I think the fact that I'm using a laptop factors in heavily here. If it were a desktop, I probably would want to have Connect360 and Rowmote helper running all the time. By default it scans the videos in your Movies folder (this can be changed). It supports any file format that the 360 supports. I've played .m4a, .avi (AC3+xvid), and of course .wmv without any problem. It streams the file content to the 360, and the 360 does the decoding. If you need a file format to play that isn't supported, there is something called Transcode360 (for Windows), that should let you view any file format your computer will play (and has a directshow filter) on your XBox 360 (but there is some CPU overhead).
