Axel
It's probably something relatively simple but I'm playing it safe and asking the experts. I have successfully installed OSX on an old 80gb IDE HDD I had lying around. I run Windows 7 on a SATA hard disk and also have a second SATA disk for file storage. I was wondering how to modify the bootloader so that I could select to jump either into Win7 or MacOSX. I know this is a highly "googlable" topic but the guides I came across didn't specifically match my situation and I therefore got a bit confused. Cheers for any help! +Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted January 12, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted January 12, 2010 I blieve the process would be: Install 7 on one hard drive, get all working. Install OSX on other hard drive, get all working. Modify bootloader to give you the option.

Jiggah
Install Chameleon bootloader on your Mac OS X drive and set that as the first boot.

-Himanshu-
This software should help. I used it when I installed Leopard. It will add the boot entry of Mac OS X into your Windows 7 bootloader and you can choose between two. This uses the Windows boot manager to boot OS X.
BigBoobLover
Assistance with step number 3 would be the ticket :) Since you have them on different hard drives, the easiest option would simply be to select which hard drive to boot from in you BIOS. Many even offer one-key access to boot options at startup (on mine it's F12). Much easier than configuring another bootloader.
richardsim7
Well if you look at my sig :p Like it was said above, install Chameleon on your OS X drive and set the BIOS to boot that hard drive first :)

dv8ed
My apologies - I forgot to feedback. I installed EasyBCD as suggested by -Himanshu- and it worked perfectly. Many thanks :) Axel: I installed Windows 7 onto C: and OS X onto D: I have EasyBCD installed as well... I've added an entry for OS X into Windows 7 bootloader but since it's on a separate drive it doesn't see it. How did you get it working?
