Mr. Apollo
My computer was shutdown improperly and the administrator profile was corrupted. I can't use that profile anymore. I tried using system restore, but it says it can't restore. I tried copying the profile info over to a new profile but I get errors that the security hasn'r been set on the new profile and the current profile info is corrput and can't be copied. HELP! Thanks. Vlad
You're screwed. You have to either log on as another user with administrator privledges and try to recover what you can (if you want to save data), or just reinstall XP outright. Because profiles contain system information relevant to the user, there's no quick fix (other than system restore, which you said didn't work). jebus
Yep, I second Vlad's statments. This has happened to me many times, and I have yet to find any way to restore profiles. The best thing you can do right now is just try to backup all your data files (My Documents, Favorites, ...) and then create another profile. You can't save your settings (Desktop, Mouse, Sounds,...), but it's better to still have your data since you can always reset those settings.
