Johnny Carson passed away on January 23rd... And our final show will end at 12:35am on January 23rd. Eerie stuff.

I liked Jay better than Conan, but I too fell Conan got screwed, well except for his buyout.

I think NBC screwed up giving Jay Leno his own show previous to the Tonight Show, they could've made Jay's show on weekends, maybe prior to SNL?

But the other thing is people weren't used to watching Conan @ that time slot, people were used to Jay because he used to fill in for Johnny Carson

all the time, so it was only natural Jay take over, I think had David Letterman inherited the Tonight Show he too would've been given the boot.

Dave was able to start fresh on another network, so that created a new show, but a lot of his followers went to CBS with Dave.

I give Jay maybe a year or two @ most then the TS, will be history all together.

Greatest show ever.

Neil Young with the perfect song. Then there's the final song. OMG Who was playing with them? Beck, ZZ Top, Ben Harper? Then Will Ferrell breaks out the cow bell. That was so awesome.

I didn't think I'd ever be considering talk show but Conan's Tonight Show finale is now my second favourite TV show finale ever. (After Six Feet Under)

This last show was very touching. Big thanks to Conan for all these years.

Yea it was. While I like Leno better, I've always enjoyed Conan too, I really wish they would have left things the way they were before... it was the best of both worlds, I'd watch Leno and then Conan's monologue and then I'd go to bed.

The last bit before the end song looked very hard and emotional for Conan and you really could see his passion for the show etc.

Overall he left very gracefully with his head high thumbs up for him (Y)

This final show was a nice send off. Conan's final statement was really touching. You can tell he was really passionate about the show when he was giving it.

Conan, thank you for the memories and see you in 7 months!

Also, from the Tonight Show blog, a rainbow appeared right before they filmed tonight's episode. A sign of things to come?

In case you missed it, Conan O?Brien scored his best ratings as host of The Tonight Show in his swan song, with a preliminary 4.8 adults 18-49 rating in Nielsen?s 25 local markets with People Meters. Not only was that better than anything in primetime on Friday, it was even better than anything in primetime on Thursday night. In 55 out of the largest 56 metered markets, last night?s Tonight Show averaged a 7.0 household rating.

He almost cried when he was telling people not to be cynical. That was some genuine stuff he was saying.

^ Yea that reminded me of his send off from Late Night. He got real choked up. I feel bad he had to do it twice so soon. Not to mention make a montage of their greatest moments after such a short amount of time. Like Norm said earlier in the week. Conan is the king of late night. No one else has been able to rally such support. Looking forward to his next show and hope he can bring his staff with him. Specifically Andy and the band. Leno can say what he wants but this is twice in a row he's taken the job from the 2 who should have rightfully been hosting it. He'll go down as the worst host of the show. While some people may still find him funny he's alienated a very large demographic and his ratings will soon reflect it.

We can be thankfully Conan got to live his dream. He hosted The Tonight Show, far to short but he got to do it. Conan is the closest any of them will get to Carson and now NBC lost him. They did this back in 03 just to keep him and now they've forced him out. I hope he takes Letterman's approach and creates his own show. Then sell it to the network he wants. If they give him ****, take it to another. He has the most charisma of any of the late night hosts its a real shame for him to be gone even if it is only for a year. Loved watching him rock out with the band and his fantastic line-up of guests. Gotta love Hanks, COCO, COCO, COCO, COCO!

Wonder what NBC will do when they see Leno's ratings compared to Conan's. Not only was his final shows amazing comedy wise he scored outstanding ratings which one can only assume would continue at a high if he were to stay. Maybe not all-time highs but definitely not as low as they were when NBC pulled this moronic move. In the words of Letterman when he was dissing Leno, I think I may have gone too far. I just really love Conan and am going to miss him :(
