Conan tells NBC to go **** itself

Not saying you're wrong, but what?

Jaywalking was a bit Howard Stern did before Leno.

His Green Car Challenge he stole from Ellen Degeneres and Top Gear.

Most recently he had Terry Bradshaw on his show and did a bit with a Chicken picking out Football picks for the week... again Howard Stern had done the chicken predicting football in 2003.

He mainly steals from Stern, but as pointed out above, and as many have talked about on Howard (I am a long time listener) they feel he steals most of his ideas.

Just a bit more info about what i said above and a source. <-- Warning link is NSFW

Mainstream news outlets including ABC News are now reporting on Howard Stern's allegations of intellectual property theft by The Jay Leno Show writing team. A recent online report by ABC News specifically highlilghted The Jay Leno Show's use of a sketch in which a chicken makes a series of football picks against a football expert. The Howard Stern Show pitted co-host Artie Lange against a live chicken to make football pool picks in 2003 (the chicken won). The Jay Leno Show used the exact same gag on October 9th when pitting retired NFL star Terry Bradshaw against a chicken to predict this year's NFL champion. Mega-blogger Perez Hilton and AOL News celebrity entertainment website PopEater.com are now both reporting on Howard Stern's allegations against The Jay Leno Show writing team.

Howard Stern has also accused The Jay Leno Show writers of stealing the 'earn your plugs' segment in which Jay Leno makes his guests perform 'humiliating' tasks before they promote their latest projects. The mainstream media may be just picking up on the Jay Leno sleaze factor, but Howard Stern has been talking about it for years. Howard Stern has ranted at length over the years on Jay Leno's basing his regular 'Jaywalking' bit on The Tonight Show on The Howard Stern Show's 'Homeless Game.' No second-hander move by Jay Leno has been more obvious, though, than his luring of Howard Stern Show field correspondent "Stuttering John Melendez" away from Howard Stern to take a gig as the announcer on The Tonight Show. Melendez was demoted to the writer's room when Jay Leno moved to his new 10:00PM timeslot.

Now I know Howard Stern is an egotistical maniac that will pump himself up every chance he can get, but honestly being a long time listener of his, and then seeing the actual bits on Leno, I truly have to say I 110% disagree.

I don't watch Conans show because I'm in the UK and I'm not really sure which channel it is on but when I have managed to catch it I've really enjoyed it. I have seen a few episodes of Leto and Letterman and I'm definitely behind Conan his show is very funny to me and I like him as an individual he comes across as a very nice guy. Leno to me is just a bit I dunno played out? Maybe time for him to retire and do something else.

Why cant they have the Tonight show air at 11:35 like usual followed by Leno and then Jimmy Fallon? That way Conan keeps his time slot, and they still retain Leno.

Whatever outcome wins Carson Daly is going to get canceled. This way Jimmy Fallon would end when Carson Daly usually ends.

He should go to comedy central right after the daily show and the colbert report. Would go together well I think. Anyway I will watch conan on what ever channel he goes to.

Please do NOT suggest moving him to Cable! Some people still have NO cable!!!

The latest from TMZ...

'The Tonight Show' with Jay Leno ... The Sequel

Posted Jan 12th 2010 6:15PM by TMZ Staff

Jay Leno will get his one-hour show back, and it will be called "The Tonight Show".... sources tell TMZ.

We're told NBC honchos still have to sit down with Jay's rep and put the finishing touches on a new deal, but NBC has signed off on the plan if Conan O'Brien leaves ... and Conan has made it clear that he's leaving the network, and not on good terms.

O'Brien took several cheap shots at Leno in his blistering letter, denigrating Leno's show as a "comedy program."

Sources tell TMZ Jay and Conan have not spoken with each other since NBC announced the switch.

It's looking increasingly like Conan may be making a deal with Fox for a late night show from 11:00 PM to midnight.

An 11:00 show for Conan would be so awesome. I won't have to stay up so late just to watch.

I want to KNOW, is Conan's rating really that bad?

I HOPE to GOD when Leno comes back to 11:30 his rating STILL STINKS!

Maybe there is A reason Leno rating wasn't that good at Prime-time, and it had nothing to do with timeslot!

I like both Conan and Leno, but preferred Leno for the Tonight show TBO. That being said, I do think Leno should've completely stepped aside, retired and let Conan have a legitimate chance without being in Leno's shadow. I think Leno just doesn't want to let go personally.

So Conan's rating is pretty poor?

Read it and find out! Sheesh.

Is there no way to completely block seeing posts from someone? So I don't have to see a person going spam-tard-post-happy?

w00t! Conan I respect you and I am glad that you are standing up to NBShi*! :D I guarantee he's going on another network now. It's over.

On January 12, O'Brien announced that he will not continue on with the NBC program if it moves to a 12:05AM Eastern/11:05PM Central time slot.

I had heard the Jaywalking ripoff thing before, but not the other stuff you mentioned.

First of all, the stuff Stern is claiming Leno ripped him off on is so absolutely unoriginal that it boggles my mind that anyone would even think it was capable to rip off a "bit" like that. I mean, Jaywalking? That was never original to begin with! Television stations have been interviewing people on the side of the road for years, and a lot of times on local television stations you'll get tons of hilarious responses. And to say interviewing people on the street (who are not homeless, but just regular people) is ripping off a bit where Stern interviewed homeless people is absolutely absurd.

As for the whole chicken picking who's going to win -- that's even more stupid on Stern's part to accuse Leno of. Do you know how many times I've seen that "bit" on sports shows over the years? Hell, even ESPN did it at one point if I remember correctly. I hardly think that's original enough to even remotely accuse someone of stealing it.

Stern's one to talk. One of the bits that made him most famous -- Fartman -- is the direct ripoff of a skit from somewhere else (can't remember where; I'm sure if you Google it, you'll see). Not some mere coincidence or unoriginal vaguely similar piece.

As for the test driving thing: I've seen that before, too, and I think that's about the only thing that I would legitimately accuse Leno of stealing. But that seems more like a Ford sponsorship plug than anything, so I'm not really to upset about it -- he's trying to make sponsorship deals for his show.
