Conan tells NBC to go **** itself

Recommended Posts

And all the while Letterman laughs his ass of..

Ever since Carson left NBC has screwed up The Tonight Show.. from putting Leno in it in the first place ( Causing Letterman to leave and Carson to end ties with the network ), to all but Forcing Leno out for Conan, now forcing Conan out for Leno..

God I hope it gets ****poor ratings and they just cancel the show.. Having a Legacy is only a plus if it's not full of black eyes..

I used to like Conan, but he became a caricature of himself over the years. He tried to hard to be what made him famous. People who enjoyed the show appreciated that part. But it is lost on many of the casual viewers that tried to switch over to him from Leno.

And the edgy skits he did were tamed down for the timeslot. That somewhat neutered what made him popular in the first place. If you've seen him lately, he's said '**** it' and gone back to what he was doing at the 12:30 slot.

Leno, because of his bland presentation, was easily accessible by the masses. Not saying that he's better, but he's better for the money-making aspect. Sadly, it's all about the money.

Personally, I like Criag Ferguson. Mostly because he doesn't give a ****. He's having fun and he's damn funny.

NBC must be loving this right now. Both Leno and Conan's ratings must have gone up from this.

It is helping Conan (based on last Friday's numbers), but it isn't helping Jay though. Jay came in last place Monday night against CSI: Miami and Castle.

(Y) I have always had great respect for the man, hell he came from writing for the Simpsons, some truly awesome episodes at that, so the geek in me loved him just because of his past.

With that said it is amazing to see someone in the entertainment industry that still has some integrity and some balls. Way to go Conan.

FTR, I despise Leno, always have and always will, as it is pretty well documented he is a hack and steals so many of his bits, and this whole situation has just solidified my disgust for him even deeper.

+1 Really now it's the first time I saw someone stand up for himself without being seduced by money, sure he's been doing this for sometime but that doesn't give NBC the right to treat him like a "second class citizen" as far as time slots, and attention are concerned.

TBH though Leno can be hilarious, but it depends who's on his show most of the time like with Robin Williams on the Jay Leno show my God I never laughed so hard so quickly

This late-night show thing is a mess spiraling out of control. Anytime you ask yourself, "why would they do this?", or "how could they?" I think of a line from a certain movie with Tom Cruise (guess which one). "What is the answer to 99 out of 100 questions?"

"Money."

Conan has in his career created a LOT of Internet-age catchphrases, and so many things people will talk about all over the Internet the next day.

But, Leno has NEVER done that! (You don't see that with Letterman either, ONLY Conan is able to do this!) He is only popular because the Rating system FAILS and older people watch him more than younger viewers (Guess what, they had more Nelson rating Boxes than younger people I bet!)

Conan is funnier! His sketches are way MORE Awesome!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Conan...;Brien_sketches

NBC needs to WAKE UP!!!

Meh, don't find him funny, Not really!

NBC loves Leno. Like last nights Conan ep, he's their bottom bitch ;) However I prefer Conan. I think they should just tell Leno to shove it and stop all this crap. It seems like its all about doing it for Leno, **** him. He wasn't even supposed to have another show when Conan took over.

Conan?s Tonight Show Draws Huge Ratings Increase After Saying ?No? To 12:05

Posted on 13 January 2010 by Robert Seidman

Last night?s Tonight Show saw nearly a 42% gain in adults 18-49 versus Monday night?s show. Conan?s 1.7 adults 18-49 rating in local People Meter markets dominated the .9 18-49 rating for David Letterman?s Late Show. On Monday, Tonight Show averaged a 1.2 18-49 rating in those same local people meter markets.

Week over week, Leno didn?t see any boost as a result. The Jay Leno Show was down from last Tuesday, but its lead-in, The Biggest Loser was also down big (30%) versus last week.

Here's the thing - why has nobody asked Jay himself what HE thinks?

Could it be because Jay's own opinion is obvious? (Remember, it was Jay that chose Conan to succeed him; worse, Jay is also of the stated opinion that you stick to your contract.) Jay likely very much HATES the idea of stabbing Conan in the back; therefore, he is staying as far away from this as possible.

What makes this all the more hilarious is that the talking heads on MSNBC are strongly (so far) on Conan's side; basically, NBC is getting NO favorable press, even on its own carrier.

NBC's board needs to reverse course ASAP and put things back AND apologize to Conan for even THINKING of screwing him over; however, in Conan's shoes, would I even TRUST NBC to give the correct weather forecast for today?

If Jay was against he he'd speak up.. And you think people aren't asking ? LOL.. His phone is ringing off the hook, he's just not talking because he wants the show back.

He stabbed Letterman and Carson in the back to get The Tonight Show the first time around, and he's doing it again..

I don't know how true this is but...

Sources close to former 'Tonight Show' host Jay Leno tell me he is furious with the way NBC has treated him and Conan O'Brien and is considering walking away from the entire mess with his head held high. "Now that Conan has made it clear he is leaving the troubled network, Jay is considering doing the same. They have put Jay in a terrible position. It looks like he is the reason that Conan is now without a job. Jay is a great guy and it's not fair that due to NBC's stupidity he looks like the bad guy," a TV insider tells me.

"Plus, what happens when Jay does return to the 11:35 slot if his audience doesn't immediately follow? How can he possibly trust the same network that canceled Conan after only seven months?"

Conan didn't say he was planning on leaving the network. I seriously doubt he wants that, only unless he's forced. All he talks about is how much he wanted to do the Tonight Show, switching to a new network, means a new show. He wants that show in that slot. I think he will give them as much **** as he has to to leave it as is.

As far as Leno goes, if he really feels bad he should stand up for the other guys. Conan is the only one (I've heard) to even bring up the consequences for Jimmy and Carson's shows. It comes off like Leno is unhappy and NBC wants to bring him back to where he was. If he really didn't care then he'd just tell them no, he's happy where he is. At the moment the best solution would be for Jay to leave for another network. I'm sure another network can give him his 11:30 slot if thats what he wants. NBC doesn't want to lose Conan, Jay is on his way out, even if it takes awhile. Conan has the younger audience and is going to be around for a long time. In the spirit, here is one of my favourite segments from Late Night with Conan.

Oldtime Baseball
