As someone who rarely cares about any entertainment news this one event has really irked me. I have always preferred Conan over Leno (either on Late Night or the Tonight Show). Heck, I even preferred Letterman over Leno, and I wouldn't consider myself anything close to a fan of Letterman. This whole mess is just unfair to Conan and I hope Leno's ratings continue to be dismal. I think his show was crap at 11:35pm, and it was still crap when it was 10:00pm. I hope Conan gets a very sweet deal with Fox or something so I can continue to watch an actually funny late night show.

Oh wow, Jimmy Kimmel destroyed Leno! Props to him!

If you ask me... The Tonight Show is dead once Jay goes back. Letterman will dominate that time slot unless Conan does something huge.

Damn! that was a great monologue, Craig really ripped NBC and Leno there.

NBC to Conan: don't you dare take the masturbating bear!

Oh great, now people searching for "masturbating bear" will find this site.

Rumors are swirling that NBC and Conan are either making a deal right now or have already made a deal so he can leave NBC and go somewhere else (and Leno can take over The Tonight Show again). And now The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that NBC is going to keep some of the characters and sketches that Conan has used on his two shows over the years because they are the intellectual property of the network, including the Masturbating Bear, Pimpbot, Conando, and even the popular In The Year 3000 bit. No word yet on who owns Triumph The Insult Comic Dog. Wow, wouldn't it be horrible if somehow NBC owned him?

Something tells me that even if NBC says Conan can't take these things, he and his writers will have no problem coming up with more characters and sketches. How about The Masturbating NBC Exec?

 It's low of NBC.

TMZ is saying Conan may get to keep his characters in return for a non-disparagement clause. It sounds too good to be true cause this whole bashing NBC thing can only last so long.

People held rallies for Conan today. They stood outside his studio in the rain and Conan even came out and ran down the street with the crowd.

Leno explained the situation from his side today and it kind of makes sense. He's not as much to blame as it may seem.

No. Jay is an ass in many peoples' opinions. Including mine. He screwed CoCo.

He did screw CoCo, but he didn't intend for it to happen. NBC screwed CoCo because they want Leno instead and they can't have two Tonight Show hosts. So they chose Leno because they can be safe with him.

If Leno was a stand up guy he would be Speaking out in support of Conan and telling NBC to knock it off. Staying Silent makes him as much to blame as the NBC Execs who are causing this situation.

Leno also wanted to protect the jobs of the people that work his show. While Leno may have a few hundred million dollars, the stage crew and backstage workers dont.

Well....looks like CoCo's ratings keep going up now because of this controversy while Leno still continues to tank.

No Leno Bounce: Conan Dominates Ratings Monday

By Josef Adalian

Published: January 19, 2010

Conan O'Brien's "Tonight Show" continued its ratings resurgence Monday, doubling "Late Show with David Letterman" in adults 18-49 and easily beating Jay Leno's primetime performance.

"Tonight" averaged a 1.8 rating in Nielsen's 25 metered markets with demo information, twice as high as Letterman's 0.9 average and the 1.2 for "Nightline." That's down a tick from Friday's recent high of a 1.9 for Conan.

"Late Show" retook its advantage in the broader household average, scoring a 3.2 by that measure vs. a 3.0 for "Tonight." Keep in mind these numbers, along with the demo scores, will shift a bit when final national ratings are released next week.

"Tonight," despite airing much later than "The Jay Leno," continues to outdraw Leno's soon-to-be-dead show in the demo. Monday's "Leno" at 10 averaged a 1.3 in the demo, falling by double digits vs. last week -- and getting no bump at all from news reports of Leno speaking out about LateNightCrisis2010.

I don't think people are being fair to Leno. And NBC isn't being fair to Conan.

I honestly don't think Leno did any of his part to stick it to Conan. This was caused by NBC and Jeff Zucker. Plain and simple.

As for Leno, I think his ratings are poor because of the time slot. Variety shows do not work in prime time, NBC should have learned that with Rosie. I bet if Leno went back to The Tonight Show without any of this mess, The Tonight Show would be beating Letterman.

All of you Conan fans seem to forget that Conan wasn't beating Letterman until this mess started. And as Leno stated, ratings are everything in Hollywood. Whether you like it or not, NBC is still in the business of making money and they were losing to Letterman. Change had to be made.

Now, NBC definitely went about it the wrong way, but this isn't Leno or Conan's fault.

I don't think Jay Leno should have given up the Tonight Show to begin with. He should have fought more 4 years ago, when NBC was considering a deal with Conan. I like Conan more, but the Tonight Show had good ratings before all of this. There was no real reason to retire Leno except to keep Conan happy.

People are targeting Leno, because he is being greasy about the whole deal. If he has any honor he would have been the one to be "a man" about the situation and ducked out of his crappy show. But, he was playing his cards as they were dealt to him. Leno does not have much of a chance at being on another network. Conan does.

I think if Leno's show was only on once a week and for an hour in primetime it would be doing a lot better. The problem is it is on every-single-night in primetime. I'd rather see a drama or even a Law and Order rerun.

When are we going to see a Female host on a late night show, is what I'm wondering. At this point, late night talk show hosts are less diverse than the presidency.
