Conan tells NBC to go **** itself

Recommended Posts

I sometimes like Conan, sometimes hate it. The show I mean.

The essence though is that I absolutely knew someone will get dumped when they booked all 3 of them (Leno, Conan and Jimmy). I had a feeling something like this would happen.

To be honest I don't care for Leno that much. I mostly watch Conan and Jimmy. I think Leno should've just retired. He's too old, his jokes are falling behind and to be honest I have a feeling that both Conan and Leno are now ripping off some stuff from Jimmy who's show is catering to a much younger audience. I actually disliked Jimmy Fellon but he somehow managed to grow on me with some crazy stuff he started doing on the show and the whole tech and funny factor.

The only thing I really laugh at every time on Conan is the "In the year 3000" thing. That gets me every time.

If you look at it realistically, I understand Jimmy's audience. It's probably younger, tech savvy crowd and the humor is tailored to that (the games, the Xbox and all that other promo stuff). I really have no clue why both Leno and Conan are there. They seem to be catering to the same type of audience. Maybe someone can share their thoughts here. What do you think what type of audience is watching Leno and what kind of audience is watching Conan. If the audiences overlap and are pretty much the same it was just a matter of time that it will be split and one of them will have to be dropped or moved to a weird time.

To be honest I'm glad Leno is getting his old time slot back (and keeping the show at 1 hour). I used to watch the Tonight show all the time but since Leno moved to 10 it's just too early and I don't really care for Conan. I used to watch the Tonight show every night and if Leno moves back to 11:35 I'll start watching it again like I used to

I don't think people are being fair to Leno. And NBC isn't being fair to Conan.

I honestly don't think Leno did any of his part to stick it to Conan. This was caused by NBC and Jeff Zucker. Plain and simple.

As for Leno, I think his ratings are poor because of the time slot. Variety shows do not work in prime time, NBC should have learned that with Rosie. I bet if Leno went back to The Tonight Show without any of this mess, The Tonight Show would be beating Letterman.

All of you Conan fans seem to forget that Conan wasn't beating Letterman until this mess started. And as Leno stated, ratings are everything in Hollywood. Whether you like it or not, NBC is still in the business of making money and they were losing to Letterman. Change had to be made.

Now, NBC definitely went about it the wrong way, but this isn't Leno or Conan's fault.

The whole ratings process is BS, period.

I honestly DON'T trust it, at all!

Let ME and anyone I KNOW get a Nelson box, then I might have a different opinion.

Regardless Leno wins this time, I hope he fails at the ratings and Jeff Zucker gets to eat CROW!!!

NBC is just SO blind, how could they not see that Conan fans are BIGGER than the Leno fans, despite what the unreliable ratings say?

Sure, Leno beat Conan in the ratings, but Old people probably owns 80%+ of these rating boxes!

You should take a statistics course in university. The way they do it works just fine. The burden of proof is on you to disprove the standard.

How can you honestly want someone to fail at their job that hasn't done anything wrong? Zucker I can understand, he's made many gaffes, but what has Leno done here?

And your opinion of Conan having "bigger" fans than Leno isn't proven out. His ratings, until this fiasco started, were losing out to Letterman. When Leno was host of The Tonight Show were beating Letterman. Leno is only losing out now because of the time slot.

#1 Who is talking about Leno? Everyone is always talking about Conan online raving about his coolness, his funnyness and skits. Leno FAR less!

#2 Who is talking about CBS's Top rated shows? Everyone is always talking about Heroes, but don't see people talk about CBS shows much really!

I think it's mostly the OLDER people/Same genre people with Nelson boxes, that's causing the unfair ratings measurement.

You don't hear people talking about Leno because his popular demographic is older and quieter. Conan's demographic is younger and thus louder because they penetrate the internet far more. Look I like Conan more, but I can also appreciate that Leno's demographic is huge.

Don't forget... Conan fans are being heard because have something to speak out about. Leno still has his fans but what is there to cry about? He's going back to his comfy spot on late night and he will probably settle right back in. The late night line up will be back as it was -Conan, +Fallon at 12:35. That is unless Conan tries to go to Fox or something.

He will go to Fox along with 30 or 40 million $$$ from NBC. As far as Leno goes he is a has been.

I'm gonna get flamed for this... but oh well.

It's a freaking T.V. show for ****** sakes. Do you people honestly stay-up till 23:35 or later to watch a pre-recorded T.V. show hosted by the biggest @ss chin in the world or freakiest red-headed doo-wap hair-style?

... ...

Seriously though, how do you people get to work on time?

You can think that all you want, but you simply have no facts to prove otherwise and the burden of proof us upon you.

Here's a decent article that explains the sampling process: http://www.helium.com/items/990477-how-nie...tv-ratings-work

And if you believe that this isn't the proper way to determine how ratings are done, then please offer up an alternative solution. There has to be a way to poll what's being watched so that networks know what is not performing. It would be way to expensive for Nielsen to poll every single TV and advertisers wouldn't trust networks to conduct their own polling. So what is the solution?
