Ayepecks
http://kotaku.com/5447312/the-next-assassi...ine-multiplayer While if it's good I will certainly not complain, I have a hard time imagining the need for this (just like multiplayer in Bioshock 2). Corris Veteran Posted January 13, 2010 Veteran Share Posted January 13, 2010 Would be very cool to have an on-line co-op type thing, or one of those Assassins vs Guards/templar matches, all sorts of game modes could be made to match the style of the game. +jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted January 13, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted January 13, 2010 I personally would not like to see this in the game. Your stealthy prowling could be spoiled by some idiot just running around stabbing people. :p It's best done alone.

Emily_June
I can't see this doing any better than the multiplayer they added into Resident Evil 5. It might be interesting the first few times, but I can't imagine it'd be something I'd come back to again and again like CoD, GoW, or Halo. what
Assassin's Creed is a single player experience. Competitive wouldn't work, and co-op definitely wouldn't. Keep it singleplayer, we need more SP-only games with a full-length story.
soniqstylz
Fix the single-player first before you go adding in new modes. FTR, I like the way multiplayer has been implimented (in theory) in Bioshock, playing during the civil war. The gameplay may suck, we'll have to see, but the story behind the multiplayer seems well done. Now, having a free-running leaderboard ala Mirror's Edge wouldn't detract at all from the single-player.
Smigit
just like multiplayer in Bioshock 2. I think multiplayer Bioshock makes sense...the plasmids and gun combination as well as environments themselves lends itself to a rather unique multiplayer experience. Sure you lose some of the story telling mechanics from the single player but thats always the case. Assassins creed on the other hand I can't see working without the game being designed with it in mind which the 2nd clearly wasn't. Technically and practically I think they are best of waiting for the third if they do intend to add multiplayer. The Kotaku article seems to state it will be a stand alone product anyway and not just an AC2 addon. Edited January 14, 2010 by Smigit
Ayepecks
IMO, the concept behind Bioshock 2's multiplayer is decent enough, but the gameplay from the singleplayer simply won't be in the multiplayer. That kind of stuff simply doesn't work. I'm not saying it can't be good, but it won't be the same gameplay.
Razorwing
You could have some sort of multiplayer.. like a team of assassins killing of the most guards (horde mode) now that would be interesting. but what I don't like is using Ezio again.. I want another time period. A new Assassino!
hackdoom
^That would be crazy, but interesting. While I wouldn't mind some sort of MP as DLC for AC2, I don't think that it would be a good idea to implement it in AC3. I say, experiment with it as a add-on for AC2, and then improve on the formula for AC3.
Tech Star
I think it might have something like Batman's online challenge system.
mokthraka
it could easily work. make it a race to the assassination who ever gets it wins

I haven't seen any footage tbh but the way hacking works would need to be made multiplayer friendly I presume and some plasmids might need changing. I agree in that it would lose a lot from the multiplayer, but the interaction between plasmids and environments like water and the like IMHO could create an interesting experience even if it doesn't hold true to the single player. Now having not seen the footage I can't say if its any good or not...just I always felt Bioshock 1 could have done the multiplayer had they wanted. Raa
As long as it comes to PC. Knowing Ubisoft's record, it seems extremely unlikely. I heard a mumble that AC3 might be console only. (N)
carmatic
storyline wise, strictly they could just be running simulations in that brainscanner thingie they used... abit like Metal Gear Online i could almost see it, the default Assassin wears all white, but whats stopping different players from using different colours... chasing each other down over rooftops could get pretty exhilerating, as long as the cameras dont let you down
Smigit
I'd rather than it being a competitive thing they include missions that can only be attempted with multiple people or at least the mission gave certain benefits or outcomes based on team work. Chases ect would be fine but you can in a way do that with the AI. I think two people puzzle solving would be a more interesting scenario, especially if they add a few moves that allow you to assist eachother (such as hoysting one into the air or something). Give people a reason to use a MIC and to work towards a goal. That seems more rewarding than just a few races or fight scenarios. Also for a competitive style game to work they'd need to redo the combat system to make defense less effective. Obviously you can't have everyone constantly counter attacking. Smigit
Possibly different abilities or just ledges ect that one person can't reach ect as a few other games do (Army of Two I think had this sort of thing). Different abilities might be interesting but.
