Emil Valsson
Hello, I'm going to the local Apple store today to pickup my new 27" iMac i5. I'm wondering, which of the following I should use for my virtual machines. VMware Fusion 3 Parallels Desktop 5 Does anyone here have experience with both? Thanks. :)
Phantom Helix
I have both installed, However I highly suggest using Bootcamp and then importing the bootcamp partition into either. I can't really say which is better but for some reason I lean toward Fusion a lot Cupcakes 1 Share
offroadaaron
Parallels 5 is much better than Fusion ATM, seems much faster and overall better feel. The thing between the two that i've noticed is one comes out its great then the other bands product comes out and its better and it continues like they..... I loved fusion until parallels 5. Rudy
Fusion can run circles around Parallels (I've tried both Parallels 5 and Fusion 3)
Elliott
I'd recommend Fusion. I've tried both, and Fusion strikes me as a much leaner app.
richardsim7
Another vote for Fusion :)
Malisk
Boot Camp if it's for games or other hardware accelerated graphics 3D stuff, or if you must use Apple apps at the very same time, I'd consider Parallells next. I think it supports that stuff a bit better. In other cases (software that must be ran at the same time as your Mac + not games), I'd recommend Fusion. Got myn a few days ago, kickass machine never slows down. Or use VirtualBox. You get 3D accel (yes, VirtualBox can do 3D accel), the OS multitasking benefits from VM software and it's free which means that you can still use the extra money to buy the Core i7 version of the iMac.
