-KJ
The XBOX 360 doesn't give off any RROD signals or flashing lights. What it does instead is it chooses to freeze the screen with a coating of noise/distortion across it in what seems like vertical patterns with the sound literally screeching to a stop (almost like when an emulator freezes up on some retro game, but more crunchy sounding). This first happened with the Lost Odyssey game my bro was playing. Then we tried again and it froze during the log in screen, again with the noise distortion. We tried a third time and it froze on the XBOX boot up sequence. I have the ugly Halo edition 360. Anyone know what the problem is?
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted January 15, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted January 15, 2010 Sounds like the unit may be overheating. It's literally 'freezing', like old game consoles used to!
-KJ
Hmm, it's pretty cold in my home and my bro and I only play it a few times a week. He only played about 10 min. in before it froze. So there must be something in the console that failed. Shouldn't the light indicate as to what?

When I got my first RRoD, I had very similar symptoms, but it did not RR right away, took a few hours before that happened. How long has the issue been happening total? It took it about 3 hours of seeing a checkered pattern before it officially did Red Ring.
SuperHumanly
The freezing/flickering isn't a RROD[3 red ring/overheating] issue, it's actually a E74 issue [1 red light]. The fix is still the same, however.
