d4diesel
i have both the xbox 360 and a wii at my place (no PS3, so wont comment on that). Wii is good when you have multiple players at the same location. like siblings or friends that come over to play. believe me, even for something like super mario bros, it better to play multiplayer than alone. however, the graphics on the wii are terrible. if you are more of a solo player and like FPS or RPG, dont even think anymore and just get an xbox 360. the game selection for it amazing and you will love it. guaranteed. as for the online play, yeah people complain about it not being free but for that 30-35 bucks that you get for a year is well worth it. i mean there is barely any online gaming on wii either. if you dont want to pay, you can still use the xbox 360 for offline games. the best thing for you to do would be goto bestbuy or whatever electronics store are around in your area and try out xbox and wii both there and see what you like. at my place, the xbox gets used 3-4 times more than the wii. also, dont base your decision on natal either. its still a long time, 10 months atleast before it will be released and i dont think it will work too well for games like call of duty or halo series. it will be more in line to compete with family type games that wii is currently dominating. pheonix_007
I have 360 and PS3. I've played the Wii at my mates house and yeah it's fun but the gimmick wears off real quick. Most of my mates don't even touch there Wii any more and wish they hadn't bought one. I do like my PS3 more than my 360 but the 360 can be modded which is appealing. I would never get a Wii. Throwing money away in my opinion. Remember PS3 has free online too. I would consider one.
hackdoom
I would recommend you to not buy a Wii, until Nintendo finally stops shovelware from being released on its system. I understand where you are coming from; I too really enjoy Mario type of games (or most first-party -Nintendo- developed games), but you need to realize that, at the end of the day, those are the only games that you are going to play on the Wii. Also, there actually aren't that many of them. So, you should actually wait a few months until more first-party Wii games are released. I kept my NGC; so I still play the many great Nintendo games that have been re-released on the Wii (e.g. Resident Evil 4 and Metroid). The fact is that I'm left with too few reasons to spend hard-earned money, and buy a Wii. Since you have asked for which one you should buy, my answer is the Xbox 360. I own a 360 and a PS3. They are great. I first owned the 360, and then when on to buy a PS3. Which one is the better console for my requisites? Most probably, it is the PS3. This is John Connor. If you are reading this, you are the Resistance. EDIT: @pheonix_007: I agree. The PS3 would be the best option. Besides, there's no reason for modding the 360, since Microsoft will most likely ban your LIVE account. winrez
I own both as a matter of fact I have 2 Xbox360's (media center extenders) As for gaming if you liked playing old school nintendo games or mario kart with your friends get the wii or if your more into hardcore games or have a media center you want to extend get a 360 (game stop has microsoft refurbished pro consoles with a 2 year warrenty pretty cheap) I myself play any more hardcore games on the pc (1st person shooters, mmo's) and leave the "fun old school type or party games" to play on the wii if you do get a wii check out mario galaxy new super mario bros If you have ever played Final Fantasy II (AKA FFIV) on the snes (my favorite game of all time) and liked it make sure to get Final Fantasy IV the After Years (this was worth getting the wii for by itself) But between either of the two consoles you wont be dissapointed
notuptome2004
i own a Wii and love it and it has some good 3rd party titles that do seem to take the Wii and push it to the limits and beyond most notable is High Voltage softwares current released game and up coming . also i know it is on the 360 and PS3 but i am glad to see Netflix coming to Wii
RoomKid
I'm gonna go with Xbox 360, my cousin has one too. I really liked it, I've used a Wii before, but compared to the Xbox 360, its slightly better.
MightyJordan
I would suggest an Xbox360, because IMO, I find the Wii life span too short.. you get bored of the games very fast. This sentence pretty much sums up what the Wii is. (Y) I owned a Wii from a week after it first launched, right up to Christmas 2008, when we sold it (and nearly broke even! :D ). I was the only one who really played it (outside of parties or family gatherings), and I did enjoy most of the games during the early days. Hell, I even enjoyed Red Steel! When we first got the Wii, I loved it so much that I actually stayed awake for two days straight playing it. But as the two years went by, I gradually played it less and less, until eventually I stopped playing it altogether. I've got just the 360 and PS3 now (well, I say "just"! :p ), and frankly, I don't miss the Wii. Nine times out of ten, the really good games come from Nintendo themselves. The third-party manufacturers either can't really make a good game for the Wii, or they can't be arsed to make a good one. There are some good third-party games on the Wii, but not a lot (probably around two or three dozen). I'd recommend the 360. If you think you're going to miss the motion gaming of the Wii, then keep an eye out for Project Natal at the end of this year. Yes, it doesn't use a controller, but it's better than nothing. Deacon Brown
Wii - Great for family and friends to play altogeather. With some titles that are great fun to play alone. 360/PS3 - Great games to play alone online or off line, not really that good for family fun as the game are more catered for the lone pad holder. my g/f is into UFC so i got that on the 360 and she plays it loads but coz i had a few days off work and started a playing it loads she is ****ed off coz Im miles better than her. She wants to get a wii coz she knows I would not play it that much and most of the games we have played i am really crap at and she keep whooping me big time. So if you want more sex the way you want it, get a wii if you want to be hated and not have dinner served when you want, get a 360/PS3 (but be warned this could lead to you being dumped and that is not a warning they put on the box when i purchesed it)
nokiaxion
Xbox 360 supports HD. That's all the information you should need. I dont have a HD TV so that "feature" doesnt matter. Some dumb opinions have been made while others have been very thought out and inteligent. I guess (unless someone can give me a quick few reasons why to buy a Wii instead) Ill try to go for the Xbox 360.

Like i said if its just you playing it and maybe a few friends who share the same intrests as you in gaming come over then a 360 or PS3 would be good. If its for the whole family and you will all be playing it then get a wii as its great for family fun.
Guest xiphi
I don't think you can go wrong with either console. I chose the Wii because it's something people can get into very easily and have fun with. Nearly anytime I've had someone over, we've always wound up playing the Wii whether it was Wii Sports or playing Punch Out!! through the Virtual Console. mattmatik
I have both consoles as well, recently getting my Wii as a Christmas present for my wife and I. In my opinion, each console has its advantages. The 360 has more depth in the game library for sure but Virtual Console on the Wii is pretty awesome. I still enjoy the NES/SNES/Genesis games from when I was a kid. Now the library of Wii games itself might not be very big but it is more than just Wii Fit stuff. I am not a fan of folks just throwing out the proverbial "you need more than 1 player" or "unless your 12" type of comments for the Wii because it is not true. The Metroids, Zelda, Mario, No More Heroes, etc are all very enjoyable by one player. Obviously, the multiplayer part of the Wii is great and its there when you need it - I don't have a lot of heavy gamer friends so getting to play on the 360 doesn't happen often. The one thing Nintendo really could do better is first-party game releases. Remember on the NES there were 3 Super Mario games, not counting Lost Levels and such, 2 Zeldas, etc. When I had my GameCube there was 1 Mario game and 1 Zelda game (original titles). That aspect of Nintendo really bugs me.
Gotenks98
HeyI was recommened (by Neowin) to get a console as a present to myself. Ive played the Wii. I liked Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros Wii. One of the first things I would buy would be a Classic Controller (never tried it though) even though I pretty much have gotten use to playing with the Wii Remote and analog stick. Only one person (me) plays in my house although with the Wii I might get more people to play. I havent played the Xbox 360. Im DYING to see how the Halo series ends (Havent played Halo 3; Played 1 and 2). I HATE how you have to pay to play multiplayer. If there is a legal workaround to play multiplayer without paying, thanks and post it. I dont really care about the rest of the Gold features. With Natal, it seems Ill get a "Wii type of gameplay" but I wont know until holdays 2010. I dont like that I have to buy a 802.11n adapter as the Wii already has 802.11g. Ive played the Xbox and liked it. I play with the digital pad. The game for Xbox 360 that most calls my attention RIGHT now is Halo 3. On the Wii, the game that calls my attention right now is unknown. Homebrew for Wii is great (except lately but I imagine that will be fixed shortly). Homebrew for Xbox 360 is just starting out. So which should I get and why? 360 all the way. Better online play, achievements on games, games are 720p or better. 3rd party titles support is great. Better netflix streaming since the Wii cant do HD at all. Free add ons in Guitar Hero and Rock Band are availabe for download on 360/ps3 but not the Wii due to nintendo being greedy. Facebook, Lastfm and live arcade. Wii only has a few good games and thats just Mario/Zelda/Metroid and Resident Evil 4 everything else is trash on that system. Games look like ass on a HDTV. Creamy
If you wanna buy a Classic Controller, go check if the game supports gamecube controller and then pick one up at ebay. I really prefer them over the classic controller! :)

Jan Veteran Posted March 10, 2010 Veteran Share Posted March 10, 2010 I first bought a Wii around 2 years ago, from the start it was fine, some nice family fun but after a while the Wii got sloppy, it didn't want to play my discs, the Wii Marketplace is useless unless you want to wait a year for it to load. The Wii looks hideous on a 47inch tv, no game i've played has online, pretty much useless if you want to play with family or friends across the country. Then recently I bought an Xbox 360, no problems at all, online is amazing, the quality is amazing, Marketplace is amazing, some great titles on there like Trials HD. Twitter, Facebook, LastFm all great additions too, plus the exclusives like Halo, Alan Wake, L4D and others. The Xbox is brilliant. Just don't think, Buy an Xbox. :)
still1
I wouldnt personally buy wii since the games available in wii are for kids. I prefer ps3 since it has free online play(xbox online play is $50 a year) and wifi integrated, bluray. play excluse games like little big plannet(similar to mario but with better graphics and unlimited levels). It has got the space advantage than wii and xbox since it can hold 50 Gb data. Final Fantasy 13 in xbox is 2 dvd disk ,many pictures and video compressed and quality reduced but for ps3 its just one disk without data compression. you can find wii like games ps3 as well. Hedon
I recommend the Xbox 360 because of Xbox Live, the stellar exclusives and the huge library of games. Oh, and the controller from the 360 > Wii controller.

Isn't PSN going to be subscription based by June or something? Seriously, ~3.80/Month is not even a little sacrifice when you consider how much more robust the online ecosystem is with Live (normal price is $49.99/13Months). By the way, it was mentioned here earlier, you can get 12 month Gold sub cards from Amazon and the like for a little over $30. It's noble and all trying to keep the online gaming free, but Devs need to eat, and can't afford to maintain servers for an online game while trying to develop the next one while issuing patches for the current one. These things take manpower and money. Microsoft takes some of the load off the devs and charges us only for online gaming, AFAIK, everything else is available with Silver. EDIT: And yes, I own a PS3 and do enjoy the occasional online game or browse through the PSN store. However, IMHO, XBL is a better service, and you are getting what you pay for on both.
