Kreuger
I tried out the demo and I found the graphics are nowhere near what they're making them out to be. Seems like a good game though

Vortex566
My CE edition came from HMV this morning. Not really had that much of a chance to play it but darn is this a nice package. I get the feeling that like ICO, this game is going to become a bit of a gem in the future.

soniqstylz
One problem I do have with the game is that the girl playing the prositute seems a little too tall for the role.
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted February 26, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 26, 2010 Honestly I think this game is right up there with the very best graphics of any console game. I am well aware there are times of absolute horrible textures, but the environments and visual style is just absolutely unmatched IMO. Truly is amazing how detailed everything is at times, and again, the way it is executed, just truly is art in motion. My hats totally off to the visual directors, it is by far my favorite game to just look at on a console. So according to Massiveterra, you cannot play the game at all and you get the same exact results in certain situations. I myself am still not so sure about this clain, but he said the whole scene with the car and you have to drive into oncoming traffic, me and massiveterra got the same exact outcome, and he put his controller down and did not touch it, and I pretty much nailed most button presses. Granted we did not do a true study, but according to him we both had the same outcome and he did nothing and I actually did the sequence as best as I could. So if this is the case, it is disappointing. It would then make sense why David Cage is saying do not reply it though, that is for certain. With that said I wanted to see for myself just how true this whole theory was, and I can say I got two different results in a scene. It was the scene with Shelby where he confronts the young rich kid at the part, Randon or something I forget his name, but when I first played that scene I missed a lot of button presses and they beat me down and were dragging me out. I quit to menu reloaded it and the second time around I beat both of the guards up and was able to walk out on my own. So there are definitely instances when pressing things make a difference. However it seems like according to what Massiveterra asked me and then shared with me, that sometimes it makes no difference at all if you do not press a single button??? Another instance I reloaded the scene and it was different is when Ethan and Madison are being chased by the police through the subway. That is all I will say about it but I can definitely say I got one outcome, reloaded the game again real quick before I saw the save icon, and when I replayed it I got a completely different outcome. So I am not sure what the case is, so I am playing it as it is meant to be played, and so far all of my characters are still alive, and I am pretty far in, so I am personally thinking it does make a difference. Some what I think are interesting comments about the game from my wife, the non-gamer. "Wow, this is definitely one of the better looking games I have seen you play." (As she was cooking in the kitchen) "Wow, that is some of the worse voice acting I have ever heard." "At times the faces are amazing, at times they are laughable" "It is pretty cool though. Unlike your other games I do not mind just watching it. It reminds me of that PC game Syberia you installed for me about 5 years ago." So yeah, I think my wifes comments above speak pretty highly about the game overall. I know I have said it already, but I am truly shocked how into the game I am. I am WAY, way more into it then I ever thought I could be. I really do like it overall, and as I stated earlier it is my favorite game visually on the consoles, by far actually. I just adore the art style and execution, and adore is not a game I usually use for describing video games. But that is how much I like the visuals. Massiveterra
Just finished the game. To be honest I've never enjoyed and disliked the game so much at the same time. In a nutshell, I though the presentation was amazing, the mechanics were meh, and thought the story was bad. I mean, halfway through the game was one of the most compelling stories in a game I've ever played, but went completely downhill from there. Gonna write up more about it tomorrow because it's late here and I need to get some sleep in time for work tomorrow.
+Anarkii Subscriber² Posted February 26, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted February 26, 2010 I like the game so far, but think it could of done without the feeding the baby bit and other silly moments that make no sense what so ever. Other than that, I like it :) I still have way to go however, Im only at the part where the girl and the private detective join forces.

Hedon
PS3 Owners Reporting Heavy Rain Issues Link Update: Sony Europe has told Eurogamer: "We are aware of the reported issue and are investigating the situation." More when we hear more.Original story: Heavy Rain is having a few teething issues on launch day by the looks of it, with Sony Europe apologising for a problem with redeemable codes and the US Sony forum awash with reports of freezing, loss of sound and other issues. According to a 28-page thread on the official forum (thanks Kotaku), early buyers are experiencing a number of issues including corrupted auto-saves and stuttering. Sony community dev manager "Sam_Protagonist" posted saying that the issues were "being looked into", and asked anybody experiencing problems to detail their PS3 setup and provide any other pertinent information to help the developers "establish any common factors". "One word of advice we've had already is to avoid switching off your PlayStation while the game is in black screen as this may be affecting your save game," Sam_Protagonist wrote. "There have been a few reports of incidents where game saves have taken longer than would normally be expected - and with a black screen present it may leave the assumption that the game has crashed. In these circumstances we recommend you wait at least five minutes before rebooting - while it's highly unlikely a save will take this long, it's better to be safe than sorry. "While incidents of problems with the game are very low we're working to ensure that everyone gets the Heavy Rain experience they expect. As soon as there is any further information we'll update further." Meanwhile, in Europe, product manager Alex Pavey offered apologies on the European PlayStation blog for an issue affecting buyers of the special edition version. "I'm sorry to say that there has been a last-minute technical delay with the official soundtrack, meaning that if you redeem your voucher code before 4th March, you will be able to download Chronicle 1 and the Dynamic Theme, but not the official soundtrack," Pavey wrote. "If you redeem your Special Edition voucher after 4th March, you will receive all three pieces of content as normal - and if you can stand to wait a week to start downloading additional content, that will be the easiest approach. "If you have already redeemed your voucher code and have not received the official soundtrack, please contact your local customer service teams who will be able to help you." Whoops. Heavy Rain is out today and reviewed elsewhere on the site. Our review code worked perfectly well and didn't crash at all, for the record, so something's clearly up. We've asked Sony for more information as soon as it's available. I am glad they are aware of this and accepting that there are issues. I am just finished with my second play through, so I probably won't be needing that patch now as it's too late. But at least it will help others. One word of advice we've had already is to avoid switching off your PlayStation while the game is in black screen as this may be affecting your save game That didn't affect my game save, at least not that I know of. I played the demo but wasnt impressed, I know it's not in context and just a couple of snips out of the game, but when I already hate quick time events, and walking around seemed a massive chore, I think Ill be giving this a miss. AbandonedTrolley
Patch incoming, damn this area and 3 meg limits :-( Bought it at HMV this morning, ?26 trade in on Uncharted 2, ended up buying the normal edition, didn't feel the need to spend ?5 for a poor theme and DLC that will be on PSN soon enough, soundtrack I'm sure I can 'find' somewhere. AbandonedTrolley
KZ2 actually looked better than the target render. The lighting/particle effects in Killzone 2 were amazing, something i've not seen any other FPS come close to. OT : Just played what I guess was the first chapter, not sure but seemed to skip a big chunk from Shaun being with the dead bird to straight away into the mall? Did my game skip something there? So far though I like it although I wouldn't recommend to some people I know as their idea of entertainment is just MW2 and that's about it. They don't look outside action games and call things like LBP stupid just because it seems a childs game. I think a lot of people will miss out on this game, but I can also see a lot of them going to pre-owned shortly after. Noticed that HMV will give ?30 back up to a certain date. Depending on my first run through I may well end up trading it in and getting MAG :)
