Massiveterra
The girl from the very first original trailer, I mean wow, and the hooker from the demo reminded me of her but yeah, nowhere near what I remember. First trailer: the hooker in the demo and the girl in the first trailer is the same actress
houlty
received the game this morning and been playing it for around an hour now... just got to the end of the police crime scene (the one in the demo), and had the same problem as DL where there is rediculous amounts of static noise and a black screen.... definitely a huge bug. otherwise i'm really getting into it. Massiveterra
Okay, since now that I finished the game, here are my impressions... Just to get it out of the way, I don't think it's a bad game. The effort for making this game is enough to warrant a purchase for some people. It is one of the prettiest games I've ever played, the character animations and action sequences are amazing. The facial graphics and animation are simply stunning. Mass Effect 2 comes close in these aspects, but this game blows it out of the water in those departments. The music and atmosphere too adds to the great presentation. I definitely enjoyed the game so much more than I thought I would. I would say the interactivity keeps you on your toes, but for the first part of the game, I really didn't feel like I was controlling anything. I think the biggest thing that bugged me was the embellishment of interactivity. Plus the fact that there were way too many times they added interactivity just for the sake of interactivity without any purpose to the game itself. But for a game that relies so heavily on story, I think it simply falls flat. Don't get me wrong, by the halfway point I was so compelled with the story, but after that I really feel that David Cage was trying so hard to be clever, that he missed the mark on making a solid story. If this was a real movie, it would be B Movie bad. Add on top of that bad voice acting, then that's really bad. So for discussion's sake, here are my questions: 1. If Ethan never turned out to be the Origami, why did always dream of children dying and always wake up with a piece of Origami in his hands? 2. Why did Madison act like she's knows Scott when his mother whispered his name in her ear when they've never met before? 3. How did she know where he lived? 4. I really don't buy the fact that Scott killed the shopkeeper when I was controlling him but I never saw it in the first place, but why would he call the cops just to rush to wipe away any fingerprints? 5. Not really a question--but it's pretty obvious noone hired Scott since the beginning of the game 6. Why would the families of the dead children give scott evidence without giving the evidence to the police first? 7. What was the symbolism behind the butterfly and the lizard? 8. Is Scott rich or something? 9. Not really a question--Jayden is such a throwaway character I really wish I killed him in the Junk Yard I really do think that Heavy Rain is an ambitious game. And hopefully it sets the stage for even better games in this "genre." But it really isn't the evolution of point-and-click like they promised. Because point-and-click games have the important element of solving something that in turn presents gratification. I would compare it more to an evolved version of Dragon's Lair, Simon, or a drama version of Guitar Hero.
Lingwo
Just got an email from HMV about the collectors edition i'll just paste it in. Thanks for pre-ordering Heavy Rain Special Edition. Sony have reported to us that there has unfortunately been a last-minute technical delay to the Heavy Rain official soundtrack, meaning that customers who have purchased the Heavy Rain Special Edition will not be able to download the Soundtrack until 4th March 2010. Sony recommend that you wait until this date to redeem your Special Edition voucher code which is in the game box - you'll then receive all the Special Edition content in one batch. However, if you choose to redeem your voucher code immediately for the other downloadable content, you won't be able to receive the official soundtrack nor will you be able to use the same code to redeem the soundtrack on 4th March 2010. Therefore, you'll need the following code to enable you to download the soundtrack from 4th March 2010. I'd assume it will affect people who buy the collectors edition from the shop, so don't use that code just yet. In the email they give you another code. So i'll give that one out for someone to get the soundtrack (on the 4th March).

That bug literally scared the pants off of me. I had my 7.1 surround sound already blasting, cause I do really like the sound of the game as well, and BAM, that static just came way louder than everything else. And there was me thinking it might be part of the game and letting it go for like 5 minutes pressing buttons. I should finish the game at some point today so will post back with final impressions.
Vortex566
I have been playing now for about 2 hours and the game is impressive. First of all I love the soundtrack! I am glad I bought the CE so I can have a copy of the soundtrack to listen to outside the game. I have found a few bugs which is annoying and sad to see, but I think I can deal. I am looking forward to playing this game a lot more. It is a shame we don't see more games like this, as it is a nice break of pace compared to a lot of games that are about now. chicken-royal
FFS. Been playing it most of today and I'm up to the "Solving the Puzzle" chapter and it gets stuck on a black screen. Edit: Quit to main menu (could still access the pause menu), quit the game and reloaded. Working fine so far. *crosses fingers*

DirtyLarry Veteran Posted February 26, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 26, 2010 My "answers (cause I don't know them all and some are just guesses) are right after your questions in CAPS to try and make it easier with the spoiler tags. So for discussion's sake, here are my questions: 1. If Ethan never turned out to be the Origami, why did always dream of children dying and always wake up with a piece of Origami in his hands? WELL HIS SHRINK SAID WHY HE DREAMED OF KIDS DROWNING, HAD TO DO WITH LOSING HIS OWN KID. 2. Why did Madison act like she's knows Scott when his mother whispered his name in her ear when they've never met before? MY ONLY GUESS HERE IS BECAUSE SHE WAS A JOURNALIST AND KNEW OF HIM PRIOR 3. How did she know where he lived? GOOGLE or THE YELLOW PAGES? LOL EVEN A HOOK UP< ALL GOOD JOURNALISTS HAVE A HOOK UP FOR INFORMATION 4. I really don't buy the fact that Scott killed the shopkeeper when I was controlling him but I never saw it in the first place, but why would he call the cops just to rush to wipe away any fingerprints? WELL I WOULD SAY IT WAS EVEN MORE TO PLAN THE PERFECT CRIME. HE WANTED TO BE QUESTIONED BASICALLY. 5. Not really a question--but it's pretty obvious noone hired Scott since the beginning of the game EVEN THOUGH I ALSO GOT THE IMPRESSION, I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE HE HAD SOMETHING PERSONAL IN IT THAT YOU DID NOT KNOW 6. Why would the families of the dead children give scott evidence without giving the evidence to the police first? YEAH THAT IS STUPID 7. What was the symbolism behind the butterfly and the lizard? MY GUESS WITH THE BUTTERFLY IS METAMORPHOSIS. NO CLUE WITH THE LIZARD 8. Is Scott rich or something? NO CLUE 9. Not really a question--Jayden is such a throwaway character I really wish I killed him in the Junk Yard ABSOLUTLEY DISAGREE. AS I TOLD YOU I GOT THE NERD TROPHY, SO I FIGURED IT ALL OUT WITH JAYDEN WHICH WAS COOL I THOUGHT. So totally a great game to be honest. As already said it is incredibly ambitious, and that is perhaps my biggest gripe with it. Some things are done so incredibly well, and others are done just so incredibly cheesy. I can only imagine what it would have been like with two more years development. But I honestly think this may make some other developers sit back and reconsider what they can do even a bit more. Honestly a perfect Heavy Rain is years and years off, as the sheer amount of processing power and space to really create a game where all of the variables matter is just mind boggling, so it is what it is to me, and to me that is a damn unique game. I could go on and on nitpicking what did not work, but much to my surprise overall it did work, and I thought it worked incredibly well. Honestly I am really so pleasantly surprised cause I expected to dislike it. Even from playing the demo I thought it was doomed. I love being surprised like that. I also think I got a pretty good ending. Madison is alive. Ethan is alive. Shaun is alive. Shelby is alive. Jayden dies in the final fight with Scott Shelby at the warehouse. Ethan saves Shaun. They both walk out with Madison. It then cuts to Madison, Ethan and Shaun looking at a new apartment. Finally there is a newscast. It said Ethan was a hero, and so was Jayden but he is dead. Finally they know Shelby is the Oragami but he is still at large. It ends with Shelby walking down a crowded city street and the camera pans up. I found an ending thread on the GAMEFAQS forum, (warning MAJOR SPOILERS IN THAT LINK) and it is amazing how many different endings people are claiming they had. chicken-royal
Just finished, pretty happy with my ending. Ethan survived - only task I "failed" was the poison, I didn't have him drink it Shaun survived, him and Ethan were looking at the new apartment at the end Jayden survived and Shelby died up on the rig thing, Jayden was on the TV talk show Madison is alive too, but she and Ethan aren't together, she was on the TV talk show and a book signing at the end Oh, I had Lauren, Hassan and Kramer all survive too Edit: Just tried to backup my save game data onto a USB key and noticed you can't copy them. Weird.
Massiveterra
Yeah I'm not surprised with the Jayden thing with myself because he as a character annoyed me and I really didn't care for him and I guess it reflected in my game. Also, I played the game with both my gf and roommate watching so I kind of rushed the seraching for clues part even though I thought I found everything. DL's response: WELL HIS SHRINK SAID WHY HE DREAMED OF KIDS DROWNING, HAD TO DO WITH LOSING HIS OWN KID. Although I guess I missed that part, I still question how he wakes up with a piece of origami in his hands, but I guess that's just coincidence due to his schizophrenia, right? soniqstylz
I got a ****ed up ending: Ethan failed the 4th test, I refused to kill him. Then in the 5th test, he drank the poison, then I didn't find the warehouse with him, ended up at a restaraunt. He just slumped over and said "I'm sorry, Shaun". So I assumed he was dead. But I still got the 'New Start' ending (with them looking at the apartment together). Aside from that, Shelby was killed by Jayden while he was trying to kill Madison, after Jayden had already freed Shaun.

Out of curiosity, what choices did you make so Jayden saved Shaun and saved Madison? (If you have any idea what they were.) Sounds like you must have made some of the larger decisions differently to me. Going to have to replay this game so many times. :p

Kreuger
In all honesty though the loading screens present one of the best graphics I've seen in a game. I thought Ethan was dead, so when she calls the location in, I called Jayden, who already knew. Jayden saved Shaun while Madison ran from Scott. Couldn't defeat Scott with Madison, but when he had her cornered, Jayden came in and shot Scott, who fell to his death. For the record, after beating the game in two play sessions, I never got a freeze, a glitch (aside from the epilogue), nor a sound error. Played bug-free for me. And I did not download the patch. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 27, 2010 Author Subscriber² Share Posted February 27, 2010 Just on quickly GF staying whole weekend, we completed the whole game in one sitting last night finishing at 4am, loved it! Both of us. I kept saying one more scene, but I couldn't put it down. And damn there is some pressure decisions in this game, I done a few things I genuinely regretted doing afterwards. So much better than Fahrenheit, and I loved this :D £7.99 for SE :D Game is definitely a slow starter though, on purpose, but it does indeed start slow. Also one freeze during gameplay is all I got, but the game practically saves all the time, lost about 3 mins of progress.

Thanks :) Ahh, that's weird. I had Madison get the location and hide in the fridge too, Ethan was going to the location anyway (no poison) so I had Madison call Jayden and he said he already knew and was on his way (didn't get the Nerd trophy though). When they got there, Jayden and Scott fought on a conveyor belt - Jayden saved Scott from falling off, then Scott tried to kill Jayden again, Scott eventually fell off and died. Ethan saved Shaun, Madison told the cops/Blake she had proof Ethan wasn't the killer, she went inside and told Ethan the police were outside and then three of them walked out. Doesn't sound like you made too many different choices then. Sounded like you had at first. Pretty interesting. :)
Groovedude
really enjoying the game so far.. had roughly 3 freezes during the intro play (hanged for a minute or two then carried on).. been ok in main game *touch wood*
