Shadrack
Has anyone on the development side looked into justifying the text on the Mobile Neowin? The width of the screen is so small, that I think justifying the text might look better. Just a thought.

Shadrack
No it's good as is. I agree that it is good as it is, but I think this would make it better. There is a reason why newspapers have justified columns of text when the column is a "small" width.

+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted January 20, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted January 20, 2010 Justified is better for smaller column widths. I feel this would suit mobile displays better.
Timan Veteran Posted January 20, 2010 Veteran Share Posted January 20, 2010 I don't agree, I'd rather have all my text spaced the same, then having 2 words be stretched out across a whole line (just an example).

It's very rare less than five words would need to stretch to the end of the line on an iPhone (or other device with a recently size/resolution screen). +Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted January 20, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted January 20, 2010 Just saying what I learned from background in newspaper layout. We never had an issue where 2 or 3 words were spaced across a line. The last line of a justified paragraph did not justify.

The last line of a justified paragraph did not justify. HTML Justification is infamously poor though, including older browsers having bugs like this ^. We'll have to look and see how Mobile Safari handles it, because while I take your point I KNOW there's issues with justification in CSS.
Shadrack
Traditionally, the last line of a paragraph is non-justified if the text isn't more than 50% of the width (or something). It does look pretty crap if this isn't implemented right. Thanks for looking into it (Y) :).
acnpt
I love the News section style on Neowin mobile. (Y) ......but I prefer the older forum layout. With the smaller font, as it fits more on the screen.

But I think this thread is drifting OT.
