the1himself
Initially it was released for Windows but now it's available on both OS's! What do you guys think? i wonder if it would work well on the new "iSlate"? Bump Top *sorry for spelling for the topic title incorrectly*

Elliott
not for me +1 Some people might like the 3D interface, but I like working in 2D. Plus I use my desktop just about...never.
ChrizzMan
Clever, but not for me. :) I'm somewhat of a "Mac Purist", particularly when it comes to preserving the aesthetics of the user interface.

.Neo
Why would I want to clutter my desktop like that? I prefer it clean like this:

the1himself
No problem, I fixed it for you. (Y) Thanks!!! I'm kind of intrigued by this bump top idea and I might try it out but I agree with all you mac purists: clutter free desktop is the way to go but then again, there's an option to just view a 2D desktop and switch back and forth from that to 3D... Quillz
While I think that 3d desktops are the future, I don't think it works applying a 3d shell on top of what is designed to be a 2d desktop paradigm. BumpTop is a really cool concept, but what we need is an entirely new kind of OS built from the ground up to be worked with a 3d level.
carmatic
when the day comes where we all get to use autostereoscopic displays, we will look back at this and think, gosh this is quite before its time...
.Neo
While I think that 3d desktops are the future, I don't think it works applying a 3d shell on top of what is designed to be a 2d desktop paradigm. BumpTop is a really cool concept, but what we need is an entirely new kind of OS built from the ground up to be worked with a 3d level. It would be cool if it pushed actual windows in a 3D perspective. when the day comes where we all get to use autostereoscopic displays, we will look back at this and think, gosh this is quite before its time... Again, I see no advantage whatsoever of using the Desktop as a place to store files like that, regardless if its in a 3D or conventional 2D way. Next to that this is absolutely nothing new. Microsoft and Apple have experimented with this idea for years and years.
Quactaur
Having actually used it, its very clever. Make no mistake, this is NOT a gimmick. You can have your desktop clean and pristine, only for it to 'zoom out' when you double click. This gives you a 3d top down view, where you can pin photos, todos etc on the top wall, and keep all your clutter easily accessible on the other walls. Double clicking any switches. I think of it more as 4 different desktops which you can flip through, or view as one. The 3d icons are great too, you can (as I do) drag and drop images and links to the desktop, then chuck all these into a 'web finds' pile, which you can then throw into one of your dirty desktops. The only thing wrong with it, and the reason I uninstalled it, is because its so cpu intensive. My laptop was howling when I used it and it would have murdered my battery life. Once they optimise it, I'm certain it'll become indispensable.
