That's right folks. Be prepared for another weekend of downtime..! I kid I kid. We have done lots of testing and we know the source of the high loads so we are going to migrate once again.

Expect the forums to be turned offline at 8:30pm GMT and to return approximately 6 hours later. There will be a full post explaining the issue and the main page will remain online. If you break the rules whilst the forums are down then don't be surprised if your account isn't migrated correctly ;) But in all seriousness we will keep a note and adjust warnings accordingly so please remain polite as ever and have fun.

Enjoy.

Note: If you can't bear the downtime hurry up and set up your IRC account now so you can connect during the downtime ;)

Can't wait.

IRC will be up as well :)

Only this time, the IRC CP should still be up for newcomers. (I think?)

Last time it didn't help telling IRC newbies to visit our IRC channel when the entire site, including the IRC CP, was down. :p

I'll be asleep at that time. I'll say a little prayer for you before going to bed. But if i get again a #1000 error i'll take the first plane over and take my little friend with me

Does Neowin have a web client or do you have to use your own? (just asking because I don't have one at work..)

It's worth noting that some of the issues you saw last time - quotes in old posts not working properly, some old emoticons not displaying - will be present until phase two of the upgrade script completes. That'll take a few days with the number of posts we have, but it'll run while the board is online.
