Foxnews "confirms" Apple Tablet

Recommended Posts

Fox news just "confirmed" on TV there "will definatly be an Apple Tablet" next week... They claim they have a publishing agreement with Apple for it... (this is fox news take this with a grain of salt)...

but they claim it will be a full blown OSX system with special reader apps have a DVD slot load drive be very thin, have at least a 10" screen (LCD) and a virtual on screen keyboard

apparently it will also be in the above $1,000 range...

littearly just saw this on Fox News right now... so who knows what is really going on

A $1,000 oversize iPhone that will have the power and usefulness of a $799 MacBook? No thanks.

We had tablet PCs 10 years ago and they never really caught on. Don't see why Apple's take would fare any better, personally.

i can't see an apple tablet catching on at all. However i really do sorta hope that they can wow us like they did with the iphone smile.gif

Honestly, I doubt it. The iPhone was such a hit because it was really the first phone to get a lot of things right... A mobile web browser, Multi-Touch, a strong mobile OS, a phone that wasn't crippled by the network, etc.

There's really nothing all that exciting about tablet PCs, and they really aren't even practical for most general purposes. Sure, some programs like OneNote were built for tablets, but even then, they don't do anything you can't do on a standard laptop. I know Apple will always find a way to do something new and improved with a tablet, but at the end of the day, I just can't find any compelling reason anyone would want a $1,000 Apple tablet over a $799 MacBook, or spend $200 and get a full-featured MacBook Pro.

This is going to be like the MacBook Air... Kind of in the middle and ultimately useless.

if you go by the latest resports, its a lower powered, over priced laptop with no keyboard but a multitouch screen and not really anything more

That sounds even more useless than a netbook.

I'm starting to think Apple is oversaturating their portables market. It used to be quite simple... The MacBook for everyday usage and the MacBook Pro for the "power users." Now you have the Air, sort of a netbook but not really, a potential tablet and there's still those oft-cited "real Apple netbook" rumors.

Lol Foxnews should not be considered a source just like you cannot use Wikipedia as a source for a paper in university!

Off-topic, but most professors I've had don't mind you use Wikipedia as long as it's not your only source. Alternatively, just use the sources at the bottom of every Wikipedia page as sources you directly cite in your papers.

That's what they said about the iPhone. Anyway, I want to wait until they actually release it before I judge.

That may work in university, but the real world doesn't accept Wikipedia as a legitimate reference. If I submitted a paper to a journal w/ a Wikipedia reference, I would be a laughing stock in my professional community. College kids should start practicing for the real world now.

You must have had some super lenient profs cause the most mine allowed off the web were academic sources like peer review journals.

I saw on another forum a few days ago that there was some Fox article online that supposedly confirmed an Apple tablet.

wtf fox news now showed a "picture" of the tablet and its NOTHIGN like the mockups we've seen so far... wonder who made this pic up at fox....

Maybe it's the real thing and the fan-made mockups were way off, as they usually are.

That's the thing with Apple, you never know what they are going to do. They always seem to be able to change our preconceptions about what something should be.

Well, if the price rumours are correct, I know that I won't be able to afford it. Am I the only one who dislikes Apple's prices? I haven't owned any of their ridiculously over-priced products!

Hopefully, my post won't start a war. I'm just stating my case. :)

Believable accept for the DVD Drive, it doesn't need one. Not even the MacBook Air has a DVD drive.

I like others just dont see tablets taking off, especially when you can get a small netbook that is the same size as the tablets now that have ALL the features of a tablet but with tons of extra stuff including a real keyboard.

If anyone can catch the Foxnews bit again on it, take a picture of what they are showing as the new iPad or whatever, but I thought it was going to be called the iSlate?

Their prices is the only thing keeping me from owning an Apple computer. It's too rich for me.

I have to agree with many others...

If the tablet does not come with some serious wows, it will just ultimately fail.

Seriously, it probably will be as fascinating as the MacBook Air. *yawn*

IMHO, Apple's products seem to disappoint the more mainstream and popular its products become.

Apple digs its own grave...

I remember when Apple really brought new stuff, stuff to wow its fans like me, and the last thing I remember that impressed me was the iPhone.

Also, IMHO Apple should not play too often the "under the hood improvement" card...

Average Joe doesn't probably have a clue that the S in 3GS stands for speed and that the iPhone is now up to twice the speed.

Revisions just shouldn't be advertised with a speed increase solely for example.

Having said that, I although do believe, Apple still is capable of wowing, and will again sometime (soon?), but I'm afraid not with the tablet.

Glassed Silver:win
