PSPNoob
So my nephew had his friend try to modify his PSP. Well, it didn't go well. He brought to me to see if I could recovery it. I know nothing about PSP or the modding of them. I have done some reading and research and still haven't had any luck. I can get into the Recovery Menu. The recovery menu says "M33 Recovery Menu" on the main menu. I assume that ment firmware 3.3 (maybe not). I downloaded the EBOOT.PBP for firmware 3.3 and put it into the PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/ folder and attempted to run that from the menu. Well, it looked like it tried to do something, but after 20 mins, still no luck. I am back at the recovery menu now. Under the configuration, the "Game folder homebrew" entry says (currently: 5.XX kernel). Hopefully that will help some one here. I do not have a pandorias battery nor do I know anyone with one. Is it possible to recover this PSP with my limited knowledge and tools? What will need and what steps? Thanks in advance.
PhillAholic
M33 is a custom firmware. What does it do without trying to go into the Recovery menu? If I remember correctly you are able to access the unit via USB from Recovery. There you can put a new firmware on it, but I'm not positive if you can run the installer from Recovery. I never tried it. Ever since Digital Games came out, I don't have a hacked PSP anymore, so I can't go check.
SimplySchizo
you cant use an official (sony) firmware for starters. m33 will just produce a d666 error. its a preventive measure. also, it helps to know in detail which version your nephew originally had installed, and what he installed which caused the brick. in most cases it could only be fixed by downgrading and starting over with an official sony fw. typically v1.5. bad news is that in this case a pandora battery is needed for the downgrade. Xilo
I would go to maxconsoleforums and ask there. They have the biggest PSP hacking scene and should be able to help you out.
