it's never gonna change radically... think about usability issues man, not too many companies are gonna pay to re-train their employees to use a completely different os, that's why the interface's been the same for a while... the technology behind it is gonna change though

This is true for companies. But for home users a radical change means bonus$$ pay support, tutorial books, software, etc.

most people who are gonna use the os work at "companies" and spend 8 hrs every day using it... so if they can't deal w/ it at work, they're not gonna use it at home... u know how many people ms has that research this? it's all about the profits man, if it doesn't sell, it's not gonna be out

you know, if you think about it, our views of an OS are pretty restricted nowadays to seeing graphics of windows, menus, command lines, etc, from MacOS to Linux to BeOS to Windows. What if somebody actually came out with a radically NEW OS, unlike anything we have ever seen, without the concepts of Windows, Menus, etc, yet be exceptionally easy to use? It would be mindblowing!

I know, most of us, used to the concept of gui using windows and menus, would think this was impossible. But I think it would be possible, if we can learn to think outside of the square we live within.

As far as "new" OS goes, Blackcomb would not be too different.

emm, the very fist NT version was 3.1

then 3.51, 4.0, 5.0, 5.1...

3.1 may have been the firtst one with a GUI but no version count starts with 3.1 ;)

I dunno if I maybe have a version :D
