Hedon
I didn't see an official MAG thread yet, but I just found this out. It sounds like they broke the game already with the Pre-Order goodies. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=950933&topic=53245666 I guess that the gamestop pre-order code gave you armor if you joined a certain faction - and then Best Buy and other stores and other perks for other factions. Well, lo and behold, most people pre-order their games through gamestop, so guess what happened? Most people joined the faction that they got the code for. DUH! NeoTrunks
^^ You must be talking about SVER :p It has nothing to do with them being veterans. They just have an LMG that's got the accuracy of a sniper rifle as well as that damn preorder armor that makes them effing tough as hell. Takes 3 shots to the chest with a sniper rifle in that stupid armor. Man, it's way unbalanced, but totally satisfying when you destroy them. Reached level 16 already. And I'm on Valor as well. DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 29, 2010 Veteran Share Posted January 29, 2010 I just don't know about this game. I really do not. I consider myself a veteran FPS player, and I have no clue yet what is going on. I got bored of Suppression real quick since it is only one damn map, Sobatage is decent but damn it is hard to break through the defenses, have only done it once cause we had some dude that swore he was Patton giving us orders (granted we did succeed but damn he was annoying LOL) and it is really during Acquisition that I have no clue at all what is really going on. Nobody is saying anything, things just happen, and it is just really chaotic. Only played for less than two hours now, so perhaps I will get the gist of things sooner than later, but just a little more explanation on what to do would have gone an extremely long way with this game. NeoTrunks
I have got to say that 2 days after this game launched, I am hearing more and more people with mics. I guess this is prompting people to finally pick them up. No reason not to, since any USB or bluetooth headset would work. As for what's going on, it's generally pretty simple once you get below the chaos. You're going to be defending a point or taking one over. That's all you need to worry about. If your squad leader has you defending a point, get your ass onto the point and defend it :). I know the chaos with all the bullets flying and people going down and explosions can make it disorienting, but that's the fun part to me. There's no in depth tutorial that explains things in real time, but the objectives are explained in some portion of the main menu. I forgot what it was. It explained the objectives of the different modes and what not. Some things to be aware of: And if you're playing on either Raven or Valor, you're going to be fighting an uphill battle. SVER just has some pretty overpowered gear at the moment. Hoping that Zipper fixes things soon. Don't expect it to be a run and gun game like MW2 or Halo. If you run around with your head above cover, it's going to get blown off. There are A LOT of people around at any given time. Someone is always watching you. Stick with your teammates and make sure it's them. I was playing a suppression game yesterday and was snickering at the comments that some of the people were making. They wanted it to be easier like the other FPS games. That's not the audience this game is for.

I am definitely not running n gunning, it is why I picked the game up to begin with, as I personally am not a fan on MW2. I come from Counter Strike / Battlefield 2 background, so I am all about the strategy and teamwork, but that was my biggest thing. You have grown men literally crying, which get old fast, about defend this and defend that, but yet everyone just scatters like roaches with the lights turned on. Do not get me wrong, some matches people play as a team, some matches people do not. It is the ones that people do not that I am not fond of, as it truly is just mass chaos. I am all for organized confusion, but when it is disorganized, not so much fun. And yeah, have definitely noticed as many have pointed out, SVER is currently unstoppable more or less, the only time we did stop them is when I had Patton in charge, and he was literally counting down when we should all rush a point. I had no problem with that, and I actually had a good round that game, but at the same time take it a little less serious, as it is only a game. I will puyt it this way, I plan on playing this game as I used my gift card for it so I paid full price, I did not rent it as originally planned as Gamefly screwed me, so I hope to get more comfortable with it. Ironically I have no problem at all with the gameplay itself. It is very traditional and solid, no doubt about that. I definitely think I can wind up liking it, just as I said even if Zipper just took the time to make a video like they did with the different factions for the different game modes, would have went a long way. Even with my points, I had no clue I had any until I went into the Barracks and I was already at Level 4. Just personally feel it could have benefited greatly from a little bit more polish on what is what is all.
NeoTrunks
I can definitely agree that there should have been a better training mode. I'm surprised at how light it was. And yea, it really, really sucks when there is no cooperation. It defeats the whole purpose of the game. This is one game that I would actually like to get involved in a clan. This is just so that the majority of my time playing is spent with people that I know and can work with. And you should give it more time. Once you get to higher levels and unlock more skills, you'll be able to take down SVER more easily. You literally have to be 2 to 3 times the player they are as it is now, just due to their equipment. That armor they have is ridiculous. I swear, this one time, I sniped someone in the head.. heard the sound of the bullet piercing his face... and he was still going. Anyway, if you're on Valor and are up for some games, look me up. I usually play late, US EST (about 9pm and later).

Nightz
Larry I was in the same boat as you. I was in the beta but didn't get a chance to play much, so when I got the game on Tuesday all these modes made no sense to me at all. Yesterday though, something just clicked for me and I started scoring points and leveling up fast. Just stick with it my friend! Oh, and invest points in the skills that revive teammates. Medics are definitely useful in these games.

(Y) I did not realize revive was something I had to unlock with points, and since I am an assault man I just went right ahead and purchased faster reload and a reflex site instead of focusing on health. Once I realized it though I am now saving up, already opened the first slot for the health so once I get to the next level, 7, I will definitely get revive as I will have the 2 points needed for it. There is not only a huge need for medics, but I can see me getting points like mad as I will actually use it.
Scazza
Hmmmmmmm, seems interesting. I'm tempted by this! I have ?20 of HMV Vouchers so may pick this up tomorrow as MW2 is getting tedious and boring these days, release the DLC/Maps and I'll jump back on, but I need something new and I think this could be a lot of fun! +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 30, 2010 Author Subscriber² Share Posted January 30, 2010 Very mixed reviews for the game, seem to linger around 7/8, but I guess that's not bad at all for a project on this scale and you can only think like an MMO Zipper will have a playground of tweaks/changes and updates to bring players and make things better as there's that much that can change in a game of this size. As long as they have the servers/lag sorted fine, it'll be right down to bug fixing/balancing gameplay and making things better.

So far not had a problem getting into games, or Lag, its surprisingly smooth for soo many players, and I was playing wednesday night, so a big online game on PS3 has launched with very little problems :D Just balancing is a little out. ramsy66
Loved the beta, loving the full game. I am now SVER, I was Raven on the beta though and wish I had stayed as Raven, they seem to have better weapons. My main gripe with this game is the weapon models and animations look a bit terrible.
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 30, 2010 Veteran Share Posted January 30, 2010 Yeah the animations are pretty darn awful, really is no other way I can put it. It is also definitely a bit weird with not being able to cook grenades, that is something that is taking a bit getting used to. And I just played a match where some fool found enjoyment out of killing his own teammates right at spawn. Did not want to even retaliate as that means -5, but man some people are so idiotic. He really turned it up a notch towards the end of the match which was even more annoying. I finally have the ability to revive, just not sure why people are not willing to communicate when they are down even when I announce at the beginning of the round to do so, so it really just winds up if I happen to stumble across someone who is down that I can and will revive them. I think this game will be one of those games that without a doubt gets better with age and it has the chance to separate the people who just are playing for the fun of it right now and those people that actually want to play and secure objectives. It right now seems it is just luck if I wind up in a game people actually want to work as a team, but I would have to say right now my experience has been more often than not people are not out to play as a team, and that defeats the entire purpose of the game itself. I am almost at Level 8 which means I will unlock the other two game modes, so hopefully people are more willing to play as a team on them. Right now I find myself going back to submission as it is really just a glorified Death Match, and that is so I do not keep getting frustrated over the lack of willingness to play as a Squad. Never been one for clans, I just do not have the time to dedicate to really be a good clan member, but if that means playing with people who are down to play the game as it is meant to be played, I am definitely open to that as an option. Just hoping that because it is the first week, all the idiots are getting it out of their system and will eventually find it old playing the game the way it is not supposed to be played, and that eventually people will play the game and actually play it the way it is supposed to be played, securing and defending objectives. Perhaps I just have unfortunate luck and keep getting paired up with the people who do not want to actually play it right. I am hoping that is the case. DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 30, 2010 Veteran Share Posted January 30, 2010 Perhaps the gaming gods were listening to me, because right after I posted this, I played two matches in a row where our squad was communicating and our leader was actually setting objectives up, and we won both rounds. Such a way more enjoyable game when that happens. I definitely enjoyed it, and now I finally now what is what in Acquisition. (Y)
