But one thing I do dislike about the show, is they are always using the velociraptor sounds from Jurassic Park for the alien noise.

LMAO I noticed that to, a lot of the Jurassic Park dinosaur noises are used in this show...

Me too. I think the show has a lot of potential. The production quality is high and the acting is decent. Also, I think the story is really good. It has a Terminator feel to it.

I just caught up with the show, really liking it so far, Its different and fun to watch. Also kind of cool that since I just moved to Boston, Im able to point out places I have visited so far on the show. I hope people give this show more of a chance, people seem so impatient these days with shows

The thing I like the less here are the child actors, specially Tom's son, and the religious chick :shiftyninja: But hey, no "historical references" in this episode, yay for that!

Also, did anyone find the skitter explosion really fake? like they didn't even spread their body parts and stuff

Just finished watching episode 4/10. The story just isn't going anywhere.

How is that?

We found out that the Skitters emit radio signals when they experience distress. We also found out that there's a psychic link between the Skitters and kids with harnesses. Also, the convict took off on a motorbike. To me, that's progressing the story. If anything... the ending was a bit underwhelming.

Most of it is just background information, but I have yet to discover a real red line through the series. Right now it's a soap in a world that happened to be invaded by an alien force.

On one hand I am suprised that it has already been renewed, just because there have been plenty of SciFi series with a much higher quality of writing that have been cancelled.

On the other hand, I thought Heroes was crap and look how that took off.

That religious girl drives me crazy, she's always positive no matter what the situation. Ahh it's so annoying.

I read somewhere that a 10 episode second season has already been commissioned, didn't realise that it was doing so well.

You are not the only one she drives nuts. Lourdes please go away...

It's funny how no one gives shows a chance any more. It's all about advertising, of course, but really it's about the mentality of people that watch them. No one has any patience any more, it's well known people don't watch JUST the shows, they're on the internet at the same time etc etc. Star Trek TNG went for 7 seasons, the best being 4-onwards... can you imagine now what would have happened - it would have been cancelled after the second or even first season.

TNG was far above the shows we're given now though, with a few exceptions such as Firefly. I'm giving this show a chance though, hoping it'll take us somewhere good ;)

Well it's a political correct American show, so naturally God and the flag have to be everywhere you look.

I would love it if Hal is an atheist homosexual who continuously safes the day. But then most of the viewers would probably die of a heart attack.

I've been watching the show and I just find it "ok". I'll watch it every week, but it's not one of those shows that you're really looking forward to the next episode all week like say, Game of Thrones.

It's not amazing but it's definitely enjoyable. I find it a bit weird that it always ends on a positive note. Also, I find it odd that they don't come across more aliens. For a race that killed 90% of the human population, they seem to have low numbers.

Only seen the first episode so far over here. Not particularly impressed.

Professor character reeling off historical references and eschewing porn for a struggle between Dickens of Verne. Just smacks of ridiculousness and amateurish character development. This is no better (or worse) than V so far.

The more I watch the series, the more it?s flaws jump out at me.

The characters all lack personality, with the exception of Pope. This is especially true of the main character. For a person who lost his wife, whose son is a slave to aliens, who is living in the midst of an alien invasion, he shows a surprising lack of emotion. And the rare attempts to have him show emotion (when he punched the Doctor) seem out of place because of this.

Also, for a story about an alien invasion, the series manages to be pretty stale. And I understand that there?s a budget and you can?t have action all the time every episode, but it seems like the writers would rather have characters speak through words rather than actions. And the result is scene after scene of two characters talking to each other.

Especially in the last episode, it seemed like the writers required a scene of dialog before and after each action the characters preformed and that they could not handle having more than 2 actors in a scene with dialog.

Anne kills a Skitter, have to have her and Noah run off to discuss her emotions. Hiding behind a car from a mech about to raid a hospital, Noah and his son have to have a chat. Just saved 5 kids, Anne and Noah have to go into another room to discuss it.

I?ll probably stick it out to the end of this season, but I?m not really sure what they can do to improve it short of a wholesale recasting and getting some better writers.
