kombolcha
i've just been getting used to and learning more about the wireless connection i set up... well i configured the "dmz" settings so that my router won't block Enemy Territory.. it works fine.. but when i play the game, after a few minutes.. it will say connection lost.. for a few seconds and it will come back.. it will do it a few more times and then it will completely disconnect and i have to join another server... but most of the time i will get a windows error.. "this program has....." send error report.. i have XP pro with D-link 713P router w/ cable connection.
amoeba
Buy a Mac... :) Just kidding, well, no, seriously, buy a Mac... But here's my opinion of your problem: I can't really link your "This program has..." error with losing connection, but I would definitely ask you how strong your signal is...What things are around your router and computer and between the connection? Flaky wireless signals can often be caused by interference (other and similar signals interfering).
kombolcha
this is the error... i have exxcellent signal strength :D and the wireless USB device that is plugged into my computer is sitting on top of my computer.. the router is downstairs.. but i don't that matters. EXCELLENT SIGNAL!
jeep327
I had the same problem with my Netgear USB reciever. I disabled the Wireless Zero Configuration Service that XP uses, and used the configurator that came with my reciever. To disable the service type "services.msc" in the Run.. command and scroll down and you should see it. Worth a shot...
kombolcha
i disabled it... but after a few minutes of playing... it gave me the same error.. i've also tried re-installing the game... this is turning into a software issue now  before i say its a software issue i will have to test it ... by a physical connection Edited June 22, 2003 by Vice King
blowdart
I doubt it's the game, but something to do with packet size. I get the same when running secured IMAP or NMAP, wireless just drops out. Which is a royal pain, because when using wireless you really want to secure email.
kombolcha
wireless just drops out. same here.. while i'm playing ET says connection dropped for a few seconds and then it connects and disconnects a few more times and then gives me the error and i'm forced to close. regarding the wireless security i have the option of 64bit encryption and 128bit and i don't use either security mode. and i chose not to. does this mean anyone (no matter how far away) can "attack" or access my computer or information i'm sending? or somone has to be close by my house to do something? Argonaut
did you try reducing the MTU size? This is just a guess, but a higher MTU in an unreliable connection means more packets lost that need to be resent, lowering the mtu might reduce the amount of resent packets at the cost of a raise in the proportion of overheads vs. data
