iPad? I beat Apple to that name years ago

When I first heard of the iPod, I kept calling it iPad for some reason. My girlfriend at the time kept correcting me. As an inside joke, I printed Yanike's iPad on my first iPod and also printed Wildfire (my first ever written song) on it.

I would have never thought that Apple would release a product named that. LOL :D

Maybe you should sue Apple for stealing your idea. :D

I just thought that as well , of course you probably won't get anywhere as Apple seem to think that they own the trademark to every word prefixed with a lower case i

thats even worse, to close to MaxiPad

Apple should have just called it the Newton 2.0.

Anything ending in "Pad" is a pretty lame name.

They should have called it iDontNeedIt

Just giant version of iPod Touch... You would think that after so long that the iPhone/Touch is out there someone would think of putting Flash on it and make it run few apps at the same time!!

Not a Star Trek fan then, are you? PADD is what the tablet computers used on Star Trek are called. That was the first thing that came to mind for me when I heard about the iPad. Apple has used Star Trek references before, so it wouldn't be surprising to me in the least if that is what they were basing the name on. Many of the PADDs used on Star Trek even resemble the iPad, and most are around the same size.

I really didn't know that. It all makes sense now.
