[Help] VHS to DVD without the computer

Need an answer ASAP.

I think I know what do in my head, but need some input to make sure.

What I have are VHS tapes that need converted to DVD. However, I do not want to put money into any hardware or software to do this on my computer. However my dad has a VCR and a Toshiba DVD Recorder.

Here is how I think it will be setup:

1. Connect VCR to DVD recorder

2. Connect DVD Recorder to TV via HDMI or some other input.

3. Press play on VCR and record on DVD Recorder.

Will this work?

Lastly, I do not need to do any editing or put any menus or anything in the movie.
