JodyWatts
I used the "Update Windows" icon in the start menu, and got in just fine. Maybe that is the Passport login?
Mike11212
sure you went to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and not windowupdate.microsoft.com

ericlims
Well I thought so... Anyway, the work around yur problem is to go to Start, Run, Regedit Then in regedit, go to HKEYLOCALMACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/INTERNET EXPLORER/HELP_MENU_URLS Replace the IP address that u see to http://windowsupdate.com/ Similarly do the same for HKEYLOCALMACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/INTERNET EXPLORER/JTIInfo/6/Download Site URL/ Change that to http://windowsupdate.com/ Change these two values and see what happens..let me know if u will. Good Luck!!:D
ericlims
U see, the thing with SP 1 is that when u update IE6, it changed the URL of the default page of Windows Update to that IP address which is somewhere in Microsoft TechNet if I'm not mistaken...well, for now all i know is this problem..with IE6 SP1 though I'm unclear if there are or will be any other 'mishaps':p in the future..?
