Heavy Rain Goes Gold, Demo Coming February 11

Recommended Posts

Was I the only one failing completely on climbing the hill, that was the very first scene I tried so I was still coming to terms with the whole QT system - I just fell like 5-6 times

Just wanted to bring this up, totally never experienced that.

It's those wee touches I'm going to love about this game, everyone's experiences are going to be carved differently, and yeah we can share them but I know I'll be playing through this a few times. Definitely want every character to live first time, then maybe all die second, or one or two of them die, who knows playing around with the games system to see the impacts.

Only evidence I got was

blood on the tracks, footprints, and examining the body,

never climbed any hill at all, was there evidence up there?

Also you can't get killed in the first scene for failing completely, you just get beat to ****, and the women gets a black eye but again, if you left your business card maybe not protecting her means she won't contact you? Or again, walking away and completely ignoring the situation, which you can do could have other consequences if your business card is left again and that guy finds it?

Who knows, this is what I love about the potential for this game :)

I can understand the walking with R2 but I got used to it quite quickly, the analogue sticks are needed for the actions you carry, out, which again feel smooth and easy enough to me, I maybe only failed one or two of the motion movements, so I know within 15-20 mins of playing the full game I'll have no issue with them, doesn't seem like you need to be pinpoint accurate, which was one fear I had.

As I said because the game relies too heavily on story I can't say the demo made me any more hyped than I am, but what it did do was clean up a few worries I had about the system and how it works, which is good enough for me, more a demo of getting used to gameplay than seeing any real story.

The most important one... Always follow the evidence.

The hill is near a fence where you can find some blood I believe, right next to it is a really muddy hill you can climb and basically just see some tire-tracks and

enjoy a gorgeous highway scene (Y) Oh and I got a bit too close to the highway and got sprayed with water, then the all-mighty middle finger was introduced

Cheers guys I'll give it a go later on and see what I missed :p

But when I play the game for real it's a sit through play myself, I'm definitely not coming on NW asking people what they're doing mid scenario.

After playng the demo, I am unsure whether I will buy this game. Maybe not at full price but when it is lower I think.

I have to say the voice acting needed a bit of work, felt like it was just thrown in on top of everything. Noticed some screentearing or was that me?

The concept of the game is good though but just didn't find it gripping me.

is there an alternative "ending" for the crime scene?

Don't think so.

You go, find some clues and eventually leave either way, I think its just to show you that side of the gameplay.

I would assume in the full game, how much effort you put into searching and looking for clues affects certain aspects of the story.

I can't say I came away too impressed. I don't like the QTE aspect of the game (or of any game for that matter). Did I really have to hold down 3 buttons to have my character squeeze his big ol' belly around a garbage bin? And part of the game is to get him to properly use his inhaler? The walking controls are horrible, but I see why they had to do it. For me, the I noticed that the words they spoke were sometimes behind their lip movements. I also noticed some frame drops during the fight scene in her apartment/motel/hotel room. And why couldn't we get the option for 10 minutes of "action?" :)

On the positive end, I found that the story is probably going to be kick ass. I just love a good mystery, and I love half naked virtual chicks. In addition, I think I was getting attached to the characters immediately. Their voices matched their appearance, and you seemed to feel each one, and become connected.

As for the hill climb, I couldn't find it. I found what appeared to be a muddy looking hill going up the side of a bridge with a break in the fence, but I couldn't get up that hill?

This game will be a rental only for me.

I would guess that the demo is spoiler light?

If anything the demo raises more questions on the story and made it more interesting.

On a side note, I found the uphill bit first time :p The wife on the other hand missed it :)

Definitely one I'll buy, but after I finish Final Fantasy XIII so hopefully a little price drop ;)

Good to know... I am hoping to have this finished before FF XIII comes out but how long it takes me to finish games I doubt it.

Yeah its a problem Sony have just ow...

Heavy Rain, FF XIII and God of War 3 all out within 4 weeks of each other....

I don't have many hours to spend gaming these days :( (ah that's life) I've pre-ordered FF XIII so I know I'm getting that soon, think I'll get Heavy Rain next then God of War 3...

Just hope with a little price drop, god knows how long FF XIII will take me (and my wife) to finish.
