Stetson
Adobe don't need to send flash versions to apple.. Apple need's to implement Flash. How exactly would they do that? Apple might be able to help Adobe with plugin support on their end, but as far as I know Adobe should be perfectly capable of building and running flash on a jailbroken iPhone/iPad. SaltLife
Okay, lets take this into consideration for ALL mobile devices... Hulu... so if flash worked and decided to make a mobile version hulu should just work right? well what would it take? Tell me? Should they know when a webpage is designed to play large format video to convert to a mobile player? then design that page to work properly on a device? or should that be the developers problem? there is a lot more at stake for a company to release a mobile player... Flash on the iPad wouldn't necessarily mean Hulu if Hulu didn't want it. Or more accurately Hulu's content partners. The PS3's browser is capable of displaying flash content but Hulu blocks it. If Hulu decides to be on mobile devices they will probably release per-platform apps so that they can have full control over advertisements etc.

That goes for game sites.. etc. But again, thats depending on the developer. And what's stopping them now from using a per-platform app??? Nothing, so why should adobe create a flash player, what do they have to gain? And if adobe did release a flash based player for mobile, why wouldn't they create just that... a mobile version. One that is geared for said purposes. Releasing secured content over mobile devices? As you stated not some j-rigged version that is set to modify a desktop version to run on mobiles

Quillz
Granted, it is wrong to show it, but isn't showing a phone/device with resolution/capabilities or even worse the speed in which it works wrong too? but no one is crying foul on that? You mean the UK Apple ad that claimed the iPhone 3G was "twice as fast" as any other phone, except it was later proven to be false advertising and Apple had to stop showing the ad? Strange... Apple seems to get into hot water over false advertising quite often...
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted February 15, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 15, 2010 Adobe don't need to send flash versions to apple.. Apple need's to implement Flash. Sure, Apple could implement Flash, but they don't want to. Flash is closed, Apple have no say over how Flash progresses, compare that to HTML5 where Apple has a say and is the source of a whole bunch of innovations (<canvas> comes from them)
Growled Member Posted February 15, 2010 Member Share Posted February 15, 2010 I'm not a huge fan of flash either but it's necessary on the web. I'm not sure I could buy a product that excluded it.

Strange... Apple seems to get into hot water over false advertising quite often... Hmm, just looked into your post. It's good to see the ASA act upon this. However, if you look at say the new MyTouch 3g Fender edition, or any MT3g add the phone is super quick.. I own this phone and while at times it's fast.. it's just not AS fast as it appears on screen nor does it look as good. But on the bottom of the screen they get away with this is "Simulated Screen" I don't think ANY company should be able to do this. I just don't want to see one company singled out. If one gets called out, they all should! Thanks for the info.
