thechronic
And, look... If the second- or third-generation iPad model turns out to be a real winner, then I'll eat my words and maybe consider one. But Apple would really have to get a LOT right in future hardware revisions to warrant a purchase not just from me, but from a lot of people. The most tragic thing is, that the first generation should have had the features to punch its way into the market. Apple speak about bringing a new kind of device into the market, yet fail to give it any unique or even remotely useful features.
Neoauld
no multi tasking, no flash, seems like its gonna be a waste of money. The windows 7 tablets will be better and id rather pay more for something ill actually have a use for
~impuLsive
No. Seems like a big waste of money which it is. I'll stick with my iTouch and laptop :).
CrossCheck
Since I have no iphone nor ipod touch,i'll be buying 16 gig version for music and books. you can buy a nook from b&n for 1/2 the price and it does both. rumor has it that the price of the books will be more than what amazon and b&n sells them for. i heard up to $14.99 for a freaking ebook. the only advantage i can see with the ipad is for people who need pictures in the books they read!!! does this describes the level of intelligence of the people that plan on buying it? I would much rather spend an extra $300 and get the alienware m11x. it may not be a tablet or have a touch screen. but it offers alot more features than an ipad..... like multitasking, more storage space, plays music and surfs the web (at the same time), is a book reader. supports flash. storage is expandable. and the best feature of allll.....you can play the latest games on it. suspiria
Look cool, but I'll be sticking with my MacBook Pro and iPod touch. That combination seems to be working well so far...
Billus
Wham! http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=KIqtSJ1aVsmVpeqS Leaves the iPad dead in the water.
Elliott
I probably will end up buying one, because the only limitations I see with it are in the software. The hardware is perfect for what I need in a device like that, and I wouldn't be so scared to jailbreak it, seeing as it wouldn't be my phone. veerserif
When they add multitasking. And Flash. And slightly bigger icons. So no.

.Neo
I see the iPad as a classic example of an Apple Rev. A product. Next to that ?450 for the 16 GB model breaks the deal for me.
qdave
No, since i have it's smaller cousin iphone already.
VGVL
The calendar looks awesome with the touch interface. Very intuitive. For what it is I don't think $500 is expensive at all. I was expecting it to be $800-1000. I'll probably get an iPad. I know I don't need one, but I do want one.
TruckWEB
$499 should have come with 32Gb. You can't install or have too many things with only 16Gb, you don't go far with that. My iPod Touch 64Gb is half full and I don't have my complete MP3 collection with me, a couple of movies, photos and apps.
mattmatik
Nope and this is from someone who has incorporated pretty much all Apple products into my home. Wife and I both use MBPs and iPhones, not to mention the Apple TV for movies/shows. I don't see how, where, or why the iPad would fit into our lifestyle. It's a serious waste of resources and time and money by Apple, in my opinion. They could have spent that time on improving OS X and all the other products they currently have available. OrangesOfCourse
I have no plans at this time to buy the iPad. I'm going to wait till iPhone 4.0 comes out to decide which route to take. My dad on the other hand has expressed interest in the iPad. He was going to buy the Amazon Kindle but is no leaning towards the iPad. He spends a lot of time traveling and it would be perfect for him to have an iPad on the plane to be able to watch movies, read books, listen to music, and browse the web. Yes he can do all these things on this laptop but its such a pain the ass to use on a plane.
ynnoj
I'm still undecided, but leaning towards a yes.
Hell-In-A-Handbasket
ill be passing on it to see what rev B can do ( or iPhoneOS4 ) or when my iPod touch dies, then ill actually debate getting one.
hagjohn
possibly 2nd gen. I'm hoping they switch to a full OS X version but I doubt it. I do not like the tight control they have on their devices lately.
what
I am. Reason? I think it would be handy, my alienware for gaming/coding the iPad jailbroken and I can then play music, browse the web and type my homework up casually. Perfect device for me. Switching between Pages and not-so-mini Safari for homework would be an absolute nightmare imo.
Lexcyn
Nope. I have an iPhone 3GS plus a netbook. If I didn't have a netbook, MAYBE, but the price needs to come down a bit. It's not worth $499 USD.
+BeLGaRaTh Subscriber¹ Posted January 30, 2010 Subscriber¹ Share Posted January 30, 2010 No, I already have an ipod touch, and see no reason to pay twice as much for a device 3 times bigger. Apple FTL

I don't see how they can sell a 64GB iPod Touch for $300, while the 16GB iPad sells for $500. I know they could squeeze in some more storage without bringing the price up. This is just another reason why I think the price is ridiculous on this thing.

booboo
Just not at the same time, you know there is NO multitasking, right? You do realize that once it's jailbroken there will be apps to allow it to multitask, right?
