SkillsToShow
Hello, I have been looking through the forums for a ssd guide for new ssd users. After reading all the reviews and hearing that about the speed increases and its ghostly quietness I bought an intel ssd 80GB G2 from Amazon. I have been searching for a comprehensive guide for ssd's, mostly for the unibody macbook, but havent found much. Do you guys have any advice & tips on what to do after I install the ssd. Like tweaking some options on my macbook to get the best performance out of my intel ssd. Thanks
Shadrack
Sorry, I don't have any advice. I am curious as to how you think the drive performs "as is"? What is noticeably better and what feels "about the same" in regards to performance?
Awsta
Trim support isn't available on OS X yet, won't your drive degrade after all the flash blocks have been written to? In other words over time your perfomance will be noticeable slower? I haven't found any more info on ssd "trim" support under OS X though, too bad really.
SkillsToShow
I havent received the drive yet, so I am not sure but will update with my experience once I do get it. Yes it is true that trim support is not available for the Mac but I have read that the performance degradation is hardly noticeable with the Intel G2 SSD's. Not sure about any other brand of SSD though.
