FatCat
I've been searching for a new isp mainly for the fact that with comcast I only get 30kbs upload and that is not enough for me , recently I Found a dsl provider that promises 768k/768k if that is true I could get a max of 768kbs download and upload is that correct , because I remember when I visit dsl reports that number is not the actuall number but has to be devided by 8 to get the actual speed is that correct? +BudMan MVC Posted June 22, 2003 MVC Share Posted June 22, 2003 30kbs? It would depend on your area but fairly sure that all comcast plans provide for 256kbs upstream - which in theory would be about 32KB/sec up. If you are only seeing 30kbs or 3.75KB/sec you most likely have something wrong with your setup. And or where your uploading too. I would checkout a few of the speed tests available - and post what your speeds are, ie dslreports has one, quite a few around For example - here I just ran this test; 2003-06-22 08:10:44 EST: 1699 / 242 Your download speed : 1699064 bps, or 1699 kbps. A 207.4 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 242895 bps, or 242 kbps. Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier! Notice the "242895 bps, or 242 kbps" - what does yours report from different speed test sites?
