ylcard
GTA doesn't come anywhere near Mafia o.O Without pulling unnecessary numbers out of my rear end, I think GTA IV sold more copies than Mafia did. And before you cry about how unfair it is to compare GTA IV with a 2002 game, think how "fair" it is to compare GTA IV with an unreleased game. Edit: And yes, sales indicates that it's better. If that's not enough, I can find you screenshots or videos from both games, or even make up statistical data regarding the amount of sqrm in the game. deletedxyz
Edit: And yes, sales indicates that it's better. If that's not enough, I can find you screenshots or videos from both games, or even make up statistical data regarding the amount of sqrm in the game. You did say sales is proof that a franchise is better therefore do you believe that the Harry Potter video games are better than Bioshock, Mirror's Edge, Crysis and others? I deduce that you haven't played Mafia 1 and I suggest checking it out. GTA is well known for being quite expansive and having endless number of side missions. However, Mafia is well known for its fantastic storytelling, which the GTA franchise lacks.
ylcard
I did play Mafia, and I'm in no way saying it's a bad game, I liked it. The issue here is that people are already in hype-mode over Mafia 2 and how awesome it is, I mean - this thread's title (and the content itself) claims that Mafia 2's world is "bigger" than GTA IV, we can't know that for sure. How many times did the developers/publishers hyped a game up so much that it eventually become a disappointment, EVEN if it was good, it was just not as good as the developers promised. Edit: Oh yes, forgot to reply to you about how you killed my beautiful awesomeness indicator :( You're right, sales aren't the sole factor in determining whether a game is good or not (or better/worse), but it plays a part. I guess you have to examine each title instead of all of them at once, there's a reason why so many people bought that Harry Potter game, not necessarily because it was such a good game, just a popular character. Minifig
Yes, time for Mafias hype machine to start working. Especially when its VG247 doing the talking. They're awful.
