rajputwarrior
what they should do is stuff both games onto one blu ray and release it. that way ps3 gamers get the full story

Motoko.
It's quite possible EA will release ME1 on PSN just like MS did with XBL.

I think we are at the point where you can pick up an Xbox 360 Arcade unit for $150 these days and play ME1 and ME2 all you want (or get it for your PC). I will assume that 99% of all PS3 owners have a PC that can probably play ME.

carmatic
I'd be happy to see a PS3 edition of Mass Effect 2. I wouldn't be happy to see one with extra content only for the PS3 version. i think it would probably make sense to make up for the lack of mass effect 1 somehow, seeing that mass effect 2 is so tightly bound to the first game... Lexcyn
Whether or not ME1 is released on PS3 depends on what rights MS has since they published the first game.

Hedon
I missed this part: BioWare's Chris Priestly replied on the official forum: "Unreal Engine is cross-platform, hence the PS3 code. This was brought up back in Mass Effect 1 days as well. Mass Effect is for the PC and Xbox 360."
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted February 3, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted February 3, 2010 Mass Effect 1 on the Xbox 360 was nowhere near as good as the refined PC version. I would pick the game up on the cheap. It's not exactly demanding. Even Mass Effect 2 is quite light on performance. Just has the Bioware problem of ridiculously long loading times. Geoffrey B. Veteran Posted February 3, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 3, 2010 Honestly i do not think they should jump to 2 they should at least release teh first one for the PS3 before they do the second one just so that the people that are going to be playing it on that platform have a way to get the previous story before they play the new one. i do not think it would be a good idea to just jump into the second game without any precursor to how the game is going to work. Not to mention it might be easier to do the first one and then just change stuff around for the second one being that the first game has obviously been around much longer. SimplySchizo
My final thought is, either have them all, or none. Makes no sense having the 2nd without aquiring the first, much less securing the 3rd.
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted February 3, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted February 3, 2010 Having played both, and decided NOT to use my ME1 save, the game is mostly easy to understand. The only thing you will be confused about is looking for your old team, but the origins of everything is explained time and time again by various characters, and in the tutorial section of the game. rajputwarrior
honestly the people who didn't play the first one or import their last save game are missing out. all the side missions you do in the first one make an appearance in some form in the next game, it's a pretty cool touch. all the people who help or screw over all make an appeareance. I will assume that 99% of all PS3 owners have a PC that can probably play ME. I'll be honest... I have ME that I got off Steam when they had it on sale for $9.99. It looks nice, but overall, I'm not yet hooked. I played it for about a day or so, maybe 4 -5 hours, and haven't felt the urge to go back. Speaking of code, I remember when they found PS3 in the Unreal Engine code of Gears of War 2. Which, while I can't actually see it happening, is still rumored since Epic owns that IP as well, not MS.
