Sethos
I'll be honest... I have ME that I got off Steam when they had it on sale for $9.99. It looks nice, but overall, I'm not yet hooked. I played it for about a day or so, maybe 4 -5 hours, and haven't felt the urge to go back. I know what you mean, I was basically just buying into the hype back when it was released and I played it for a few hours. I wasn't even that big on RPGs so it was new territory for me. Throughout the game, I had a hard time immersing myself into the story and the world until one day I was playing, like a lightning strike out of the blue I got this tingling sensation down my spine. It was like a random mission, the music, the world and everything just clicked and since then I was playing that game for hours and hours and I was in love with the game. Took me like 10+ Hours before I even got to that point. I was close to just dropping the game around 5-6 hour mark but I really wanted to give it a chance. rajputwarrior
^ same problem with me. I got the game when it came out, played it for 4 hours got bored... went back to it almost a year later and forced myself to get into and loved it. The story is what gets you... Xerxes
i think it would probably make sense to make up for the lack of mass effect 1 somehow, seeing that mass effect 2 is so tightly bound to the first game... They designed it to be as accessible as possible, so players who never played (and never want too) Mass Effect would not be disadvantaged by those who did (obviously if you want the full experience it's recommended to play both). I've played both games and while there is alot in ME2 that references to ME1, it's more a nod to the dedicated fans then anything else*. Your not missing anything if you never played ME1 before, as it tells you everything you need to know. * I'm aware it was not design that way, as it was intended as a trilogy which the actions in each game affected the outcome of the following game. However, that said they don't assume players did play the previous games and allow for new players starting later in the series and key information is provided to get players up to speed. So yes it's best experienced playing it as intended but it's not contingent on that fact.

Maybe I'll give it another whirl down the line when I have more time. Honestly, I put more time into Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. +Audioboxer 1 Share

Same here. played about 5 hours last summer and stopped. Leo Natan
bioshock is unreal 3 engine too Incorrect. Both BioShock and BioShock 2 use a heavily modified UE2.5 engine (dubbed "Tribes Vengeance Engine").
carmatic
honestly the people who didn't play the first one or import their last save game are missing out. all the side missions you do in the first one make an appearance in some form in the next game, it's a pretty cool touch. all the people who help or screw over all make an appeareance. They designed it to be as accessible as possible, so players who never played (and never want too) Mass Effect would not be disadvantaged by those who did this is why i was thinking, a PS3 version of ME2 should have PS3-only bonus content specifically designed to make up for the lack of ME1 ... like maybe a new intro made up of snippets from the first game, arranged in a way to look like a series of flashbacks, and filled with all the plot points which get carried into ME2, like if you've destroyed this or killed that person... maybe you get ME2-style controls in the few ME1 levels which get recreated, or it all gets condensed into quick-time-event decision making, but it would branch in exactly the same way that the first game did... so when you start ME2 proper you would have pretty much the same experience as people who have played ME1
